An emotional Joanna Jedrzejczyk does not want to be compared to Ronda Rousey

Joanna Jedrzejczyk relinquished her UFC strawweight title in shocking fashion at tonight’s UFC 217 event in New York, suffering a first-round knockout loss to Rose Namajunas.

Jedrzejczyk appeared at tonight’s UFC 217 post-fight press conference where she discussed the first ever setback of her professional mixed martial arts career.

“This happens to all the greats.” stated the emotional former champion Jedrzejczyk.

When asked about a possible move up to the UFC’s new women’s flyweight division Joanna responded with the following:

“I am a professional. I want my belt back!”

When a reporter attempted to compare Joanna’s UFC 217 setback to that of Ronday Rousey’s KO loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, the former strawweight champion quickly shut the idea down.

“Please, don’t compare me to Ronda Rousey. I love her very much but please take this bullshit away.”

As for the finish, Joanna was quick to compliment Rose Namajunas on a job well done.

“It was a good punch. She cut me off. I really don’t know what happened but it’s a fight & we take this risk.”

Round one begins and Rose lands a good low kick to start. Jedrzejczyk fires back with a left hand. Rose counters with a right. Namajunas seems to be very comfortable early. Joanna fires off a nice combination. Rose avoids any significant strikes and then drops Joanna with a right hand. She jumps on her and immediately moves to mount. Joanna is taking some shots but works her way back to her feet. Joanna gets free and circles out. Rose catches her with a right hand and drops her to the floor. Rose jumps on Joanna and forces her to tapout due to strikes!
