Joe Rogan argues Conor McGregor 'did not tap prematurely' at UFC 229
Tom Taylor - November 15, 2018
Last month, in the main event of the UFC’s blockbuster UFC 229 pay-per-view, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor with what looked like a neck crank or face choke. Because this choke wasn’t under the chin — which would have made it a rear-naked choke — many fans have accused McGregor of giving up prematurely. UFC color commentator Joe Rogan wants to put an end to that talk. “He did not tap prematurely,” Joe Rogan said on his podcast recently (transcript via Pundit Arena). “He did not defend it though. He was done, he was beaten down. Khabib f**ked him up.
Joe Rogan on Cain Velasquez: He 'stands out as the best'
Tom Taylor - November 14, 2018
If you ask UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is probably the best heavyweight in MMA history. Rogan got talking about Velasquez, and what makes him so special, after a discussion about the ideal weight for a heavyweight mixed martial artist on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. “There’s a thought with the 265-pound weight class and the consensus thought seems to be that somewhere around 240 pounds is the magic number,” Joe Rogan said of Cain Velasquez (transcript via MMA Fighting). “That’s what they think. They think that 240 pounds is the amount of weight that you have where you’re strong enough that you can knock out any man but you have more endurance than a man that maybe weighs 265 or heavier and cuts down to 265. Now this has not been substantiated. The problem is, there hasn’t been a super powerful world championship athlete that weighed 265 pounds…

Joe Rogan hopes Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor rematch isn't next
Tom Taylor - October 16, 2018
There is already significant buzz about a rematch between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and the man he just beat, former two-division champion Conor McGregor. While this rematch would generate massive amounts of money, however, its hardly the most sensible fight to make next from a rankings standpoint. That’s why UFC color commentator Joe Rogan is hoping it isn’t next.

Joe Rogan argues extreme weight-cutting is a worse form of cheating than PEDs
Tom Taylor - August 7, 2018
UFC commentator Joe Rogan is not a fan of extreme weight-cutting — the practice of dehydrating oneself in order to make weight for a fight, then rapidly rehydrating to regain that weight, and carry a significant weight advantage into the cage. In his eyes, this practice is not only incredibly dangerous, it’s also a form of cheating more severe than performance enhancing drugs. “It is stupid,” Rogan said on his podcast the Joe Rogan Experience (transcript via MMAMania). “What it is is sanctioned cheating. It’s sanctioned cheating and it’s cheating at a much higher scale even than PEDs. If you get two people and they both weigh 135 [pounds] but they’re both totally hydrated and one of them has been doing steroids and one of them hasn’t been doing steroids, the difference will be far less than if one person weighs in at 135 [pounds] but then balloons up to 160 [pounds] and then gets into that octagon at 160 [pounds] but there’s no PEDs involved. That’s a much greater advantage than someone whose doing some sort of testosterone thing or something. They’re compromised but the benefit of being so much larger might outweigh being compromised.
Joe Rogan feels that Stipe Miocic deserves rematch with Daniel Cormier
Tom Taylor - July 26, 2018
The next shot at Daniel Cormier’s UFC heavyweight title will go to former champion Brock Lesnar. In the eyes of many fans, however, this is the wrong choice. Instead, these fans feel that the next shot at Cormier should go to the very many he won the title from: Stipe Miocic. Miocic, after all, owns the record for most consecutive title defenses by a UFC heavyweight champion, and until his loss to Cormier — a first-round knockout — looked more or less unstoppable. Furthermore, many dominant champions are given immediate rematches when they lose their belts — such as Ronda Rousey and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, to name a few.

Joe Rogan details why he and FOX butted heads, "they actually paid me less"
Drake Riggs - May 28, 2018
If you are an avid watcher of MMA and the UFC more specifically, when watching UFC fight nights on FOX(aka UFC on FOX), you will have noticed about a year or so ago that longtime UFC commentator, Joe Rogan no longer works those events. Obviously, this doesn’t mean much for Rogan who wasn’t working the events anyway, but he took the time yesterday during his Fight Companion for UFC Liverpool to go a bit in depth about everything wrong with his relationship with the network.
Joe Rogan thinks its "f***ing crazy" that CM Punk is on UFC 225 main card
Tom Taylor - May 23, 2018
The UFC 225 main card is absolutely stacked. Regrettably, there is one aspect of this main card that is a little controversial. Many fans are disappointed that it includes the sophomore MMA fight of former pro wrestler CM Punk, who is set to take on Mike Jackson. The controversy, of course, is that Punk and Jackson both own 0-1 pro MMA records. While Punk is a huge name — and a figure that is almost certain to boost the UFC 225 PPV revenue — many fans feel he belongs on the undercard.
