White was a recent guest on the Bill Simmons podcast where he confirmed that the UFC is currently targeting a Ngannou vs. Lewis rematch, this because ‘Bones’ wanted $30 million to fight the promotions reigning heavyweight champion.

UFC president Dana White confirmed that promotional superstar Jon Jones is hoping to make $30 million to fight heavyweight Francis Ngannou. After Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 to become the new UFC heavyweight champion, White mentioned that Derrick Lewis would likely be next in line to fight for the belt. That confused a lot of fans who assumed that Jones would be the next man in line to fight the winner of Jones vs. Miocic for the title. Jones later took to his social media to say that the UFC was lowballing him and that their offer of $10 million was not enough to take the fight. Now we have a better idea of the number that Jones is looking at.

Jones and the UFC have been involved in very public contract negotiations for a potential heavyweight title fight with the new UFC champion Ngannou. The original plan was for Jones to fight the winner of Ngannou vs. Stipe Miocic 2 at UFC 260, but since that fight happened, White has suggested that Derrick Lewis could be Ngannou’s next opponent. That’s because Jones wants more money than the UFC initially offered. According to “Bones” he balked at the promotion’s initial suggestion of $8 to $10 million dollars.

After dropping the UFC light heavyweight title last summer, Jones has spent the better part of the last year bulking up for his UFC heavyweight debut. The original plan was for Jones to take on the winner of Francis Ngannou vs. Stipe Miocic, which Ngannou ended up winning when he brutally knocked the former champion out at UFC 260. However, Jones and the UFC are now embroiled in a very public financial dispute relating to how much money “Bones” will get to fight Ngannou. At this point, we have no idea if the UFC and Jones will be able to come to a deal, as the two sides appear to be very far apart in money.

UFC superstar Jon Jones said that he weighs 255lbs in his latest heavyweight weight update ahead of the potential Francis Ngannou superfight. Jones has been bulking up for the better part of the past year in preparation for a planned move up to the UFC heavyweight division. Though he fought his entire MMA career up to this point at 205lbs, Jones has apparently had no trouble putting on the weight as he steps up to the UFC’s heaviest weight division. In February, Jones posted a video of himself hitting pads with striking coach Mike Winkeljohn when he weighed in at 252lbs. Some fans felt that Jones looked slow at that weight, but he fired back saying he was still getting into shape. Then in March, Jones posted an update saying he was weighed in around 245lbs.

Jones is currently involved in a financial dispute with the UFC related to a potential superfight against UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Rakic, one of the best fighters in the UFC at 205lbs currently, is coming off of a decision win over Thiago Santos in his last fight, and he is widely expected to be just one or two fights away now from taking on UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. Jones, of course, was the kingpin of the UFC’s 205lbs division for the last decade, but he is planning on moving up to heavyweight this summer. The plan was for him to fight Ngannou in a mega-fight, but Jones is currently involved in a public financial despite with the UFC.

Jones is currently involved in a very public contractual battle with UFC president Dana White over how much he will get paid to fight Francis Ngannou. Jones this week said that he turned down the UFC’s initial offer of $8 to $10 million, saying that would be “way too low” for a fight of this magnitude. He then took to his social media to request he would be released from the UFC. Speaking on the “Steve-O’s Wild Ride!” podcast,” Jones once again reaffirmed his desire to be released and explained why he wants to find a new home.

In a series of tweets posted to his social media on Wednesday, Jones said that he told UFC executive Hunter Campbell that he wants more than $10 million dollars to fight Ngannou. In addition, Jones said that believes he’s been underpaid throughout his entire career and is hoping to finally get paid what he believes is right to take on Ngannou at heavyweight. UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou sent a message to Jon Jones, telling him to get ready for the biggest challenge of his life. Ngannou knocked out Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 to capture the promotion’s heavyweight crown, and it’s expected that he fights Jones in his first title defense. Of course, Jones is currently involved in a public battle with UFC president Dana White over fighter pay, so it’s no sure thing that fight happens. But if you ask Ngannou, he wants the UFC to get the fight done because Jones is the man that he wants to see standing across the cage from him.

Rashad Evans believes Jon Jones and his team should’ve handled his move to heavyweight much better. After Jones vacated his light heavyweight title, he said he would be moving up to heavyweight. The plan was to face the winner of Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou 2 this summer. However, after Ngannou became the new champ, Jones started to say the UFC needs to pay him what he wants. For Evans, he believes “Bones” gave up all his negotiating power by already vacating the belt and changing his body for a heavyweight move.
