On December 10, in the main event of UFC 206, Daniel Cormier will defend the UFC light heavyweight title against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. As significant as this bout is, however, it will have a shadow cast over it by one man: former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jones won the divisional crown in early 2011 with a third-round TKO of light heavyweight legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. From there, he cut through the division like a buzzsaw, fending off game challengers in Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Alexander Gustafsson, Glover Teixeira and Cormier, experiencing only a few moments of adversity along the way. By the time he’d defended his title against Cormier, he stood at as not only the greatest light heavyweight ever, but also one of the greatest fighters ever – period.

UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones may currently be suspended by the NAC throughout the course of his appeal process, however Jones’ legal team caught quite the big break this week when it was announced that they were able to pinpoint the exact supplement Jones took which was tainted, resulting in the failure of a June out-of-competition drug test that saw Jones pulled from his headlining UFC 200 scrap just 48 hours before fight night. Jones, who was set to have a rematch with Daniel Cormier, this time in a title unification fight, has maintained his innocence since it was announced that he failed a drug test back in July.

Jon Jones was unceremoniously pulled from a milestone event in UFC 200 after USADA flagged him for a positive drug test. Just days before he was set to rematch Daniel Cormier to unify the light heavyweight belts, Jones was forced off the card and replaced with Anderson Silva, who stepped in following Jones’ failed drug test. Recent revelations however suggest that Jones may not have been misleading when they blamed the failed tests on tainted supplements.

Jones says he was called out by some of his fans at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) tournament, which took place at the Europa Games Expo in Phoenix. It looks as though the MMA community will have to wait longer for the return of pound for pound kingpin, interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. After it was revealed last month that Jones would be appearing in front of the NSAC on October 10th along with Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor, who could be facing repercussions for their UFC 202 water bottle fight, many expected Jones to return to the Octagon sooner rather than later given that UFC President Dana White previously stated that Jones’ appeal process was going well.

After being slated to fight Daniel Cormier in a highly anticipated rematch for the UFC light heavyweight championship in the main event of UFC 200, all signs pointed to Jones making his return to the Octagon on July 9th. Unfortunately, ‘Bones’ was pulled from the card just two days before the event when it was revealed that he had failed a random out-of-competition drug test back in June.

A fan who purchased four tickets to July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event in Las Vegas, which was expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight title unification bout between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, is taking “Bones” and his management team to court. BloodyElbow is reporting that on August 19, Sean Slattery filed a lawsuit in San Diego Superior Court against Jones and his managers, First Round Management, for concealment, negligent misrepresentation, and negligence relating to the interim champ’s flagged drug test results and subsequent removal from July’s UFC 200 fight card in Las Vegas.
