In addition, Aldo was undefeated for 5 years in the UFC until Conor McGregor knocked him out in just 13 seconds.

This week UFC President Dana White visited with McGregor, and revealed McGregor’s intentions to defend his featherweight championship at UFC 200 in July. With that being said, the decision of who he will defend the belt against is not an easy one for the UFC brass.

Jose Aldo opens up on why he turned down fight with Conor McGregor

Russell Ess - March 1, 2016

It was the fight Jose Aldo has been having dreams of ever since he lost at UFC 194 back in December. However, with less than two weeks given for an opportunity to rematch Conor McGregor, Aldo turned down the fight when McGregor’s originally scheduled opponent Rafael dos Anjos pulled out due to an injury and spoke on the MMA Hour about his decision. “Any professional needs time to train,” Aldo said (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “It’s not a cockfight where I go there and put my rooster to fight. It’s a high-level sport, I’m going there to do my job. When I have time to train, it can happen at any time, anywhere.”

The MMA world has been in an uproar since it was announced that UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos had withdrawn from his UFC 196 lightweight title fight against Conor McGregor on March 5th. As many expected, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone offered to step in on short notice to fight Rafael dos Anjos.

Jose Aldo still despises Conor McGregor and has an interesting prediction of his own

Russell Ess - February 18, 2016

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has not had any good things to say about Conor McGregor since losing to him at UFC 194 back in December. While McGregor took just 13-seconds to bring Aldo’s dreams and records to a screeching halt, the Brazilian still does not have any respect for “The Notorious” and told media in Rio de Janeiro that he doesn’t see his glory lasting much longer. “I think it’s tough,” Aldo said when asked if he thinks McGregor can beat dos Anjos and go after the welterweight title next (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “And I’ll say this: I don’t think he will have any belt by the end of the year. And everyone will forget him. He has this dream, this goal, but you can be sure that he won’t have any (belt) by the end of the year.”
