Undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0 MMA) is reportedly planning to no show his hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission this December. The hearing, which takes place December 10, is expected to produce Khabib’s official punishment for his post-fight actions at UFC 229.

UFC 229, which was headlined by a lightweight title fight between undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor, was far and away the biggest pay-per-view the UFC has ever promoted. The card sold north of 2.4 million pay-per-views, blasting past the previous record of roughly 1.6 million. Speaking to the media in Russia this week, Khabib Nurmagomedov was asked about the card’s massive pay-per-view sales, and surprisingly, admitted that credit should be given to Conor McGregor.

Johnson took the fight on short-notice and missed weight by a pound weighing in at 147 pounds. Michael Johnson is coming off of a win in his second featherweight fight. Prior to that, he suffered three losses in a row to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje and Darren Elkins. UFC 229 was hyped as the biggest fight in MMA history, as Conor McGregor would take on lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the card’s blockbuster main event. Well, as it turns out it did break the UFC’s pay-per-view record, but it may have come at a cost for the two headliners. Leading up to the fight, McGregor threw a dolly through a bus window at UFC 223. Then, during the pre-fight press conferences, McGregor verbally attacked Nurmagomedov’s family, religion and manager. All this added fuel to the fire and Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted in kind following his fourth-round submission win over Conor McGregor.

That being said, UFC President Dana White claims this is not the current plan. “I haven’t even thought about a [McGregor] rematch,” White told ESPN. “Obviously, I know Conor wants a rematch. We need to do what’s right and what’s fair. We’ll see how it plays out. We literally haven’t thought about it yet.”
