Colby Covington trashes "loser" Leon Edwards after beating Nate Diaz: "There's no honor in beating a guy like that"
Adam Martin - July 25, 2021
UFC welterweight Colby Covington trashed “loser” Leon Edwards after beating Nate Diaz, saying “there’s no honor in beating a guy like that.” Edwards defeated Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 263 in June, but while the Brit clearly won the first four rounds of the fight, most fans only remember the fifth round where Diaz rocked “Rocky” with a big punch and nearly finished him. In the end, Edwards was awarded the win and he is now officially on a top-10 fight unbeaten streak, which is why he believes he should be next in line to fight UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. However, Covington is confident that he is deserving of being next for the belt.
Gilbert Burns explains why he wants to fight Leon Edwards next: "He is the toughest guy in the division"
Adam D Martin - July 23, 2021
UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns explained why he wants to fight Leon Edwards next, saying “he is the toughest guy in the division.” Burns is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Stephen Thompson earlier this month at UFC 264 that reaffirmed his spot among the top-five welterweights in the world. Coming off of a brutal knockout loss to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman earlier this year, Burns knew that his back was against the wall and that he needed to beat “Wonderboy,” and he did just that. By defeating Thompson, Burns cemented his spot as an elite welterweight, and he has spent the last few weeks calling out the other top fighters.
Gilbert Burns reiterates callouts to Leon Edwards, Jorge Masvidal, and Nate Diaz
Adam D Martin - July 21, 2021
UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns reiterated his callouts to divisional rivals Leon Edwards, Jorge Masvidal, and Nate Diaz. Earlier this month at UFC 264, Burns defeated Stephen Thompson via unanimous decision, and then used his post-fight interview as an opportunity to call out Edwards, Masvidal, and Diaz. It’s been a few weeks since then and we haven’t heard any of these other fighters say they will accept Burns’ callout. That’s why “Durinho” took to his social media on Wednesday and once again called out Edwards, Masvidal, and Diaz for an upcoming fight.
Belal Muhammad "very confident" he would beat Leon Edwards in a rematch
Adam D Martin - July 20, 2021
UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad says that he is “very confident” he would beat divisional rival Leon Edwards in a future rematch. Muhammad and Edwards fought earlier this year and the fight ended early in the second round when Edwards accidentally poked Muhammad in the eye, causing an end to the fight. In the immediate aftermath of that bout, Muhammad was making noise and telling the UFC that he wanted the rematch, but the promotion gave both fighters different opponents. Instead, Muhammad fought and defeated Demian Maia at UFC 263, while Edwards beat Nate Diaz on the same card. And while Edwards is hoping that his win over Diaz is enough for him to get a title shot, Muhammad doesn’t agree with that sentiment.
Dana White interested in booking Leon Edwards vs. Jorge Masvidal: "That's probably the fight to make"
Adam D Martin - July 7, 2021
UFC president Dana White says he is interested in booking Leon Edwards vs. Jorge Masvidal, suggesting “that’s probably the fight to make.” Edwards is unbeaten over his last 10 fights and wants to get the next title shot against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, but White has already said that Colby Covington is next in line for the champ. That means that Edwards will have to wait on the sidelines, potentially for the rest of the year, while Usman and Covington prepare for their rematch. Considering Edwards has only fought once in the last two years, having the Brit sit out on the sidelines following his recent win over Nate Diaz at UFC 263 seems like a bad idea.
Gilbert Burns sends violent warning to Leon Edwards: "When my hands touch you, you going to wake up at ICU"
Cole Shelton - June 23, 2021
Gilbert Burns has taken a shot at Leon Edwards over his recent performance against Nate Diaz. Although Edwards dominated 24 minutes of the fight at UFC 263, what many will remember is the final minute where Diaz rocked the Brit. Leon Edwards fires back at Gilbert Burns for suggesting he “wasn’t hungry” in fight with Nate Diaz: “You got knocked out with a jab”
Adam D Martin - June 23, 2021
Leon Edwards fired back at Gilbert Burns for suggesting he “wasn’t hungry” in the Nate Diaz fight, saying “you got knocked out with a jab.” Edwards won a unanimous decision over Diaz at UFC 263 earlier this month, but he wasn’t able to get the finish and nearly got stopped himself during a crazy fifth round of action. Although Edwards got his hand raised, UFC president Dana White stopped short of committing to giving him the next title shot despite being on a 10-fight unbeaten streak at the moment. White instead said that Colby Covington is next in line to fight UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. But one has to wonder if Edwards was able to go out there and finish Diaz if he would have been granted the title shot instead of Covington.
Nate Diaz unloads on “amateur” Gilbert Burns following his criticism of Leon Edwards' performance at UFC 263
Adam D Martin - June 23, 2021
UFC welterweight superstar Nate Diaz unloaded on “amateur” Gilbert Burns following his criticism of Leon Edwards’ performance at UFC 263. Edwards won a unanimous decision over Diaz at UFC 263 earlier this month. After winning the first four rounds of the fight, Diaz rocked Edwards in the fifth round with a Stockton slap followed by a straight left, and that’s the moment of the fight that most fans seem to remember about the match. Instead of Edwards going 10 straight fights without losing and earning a title shot against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, many fans were disappointed that Edwards wasn’t able to go out there and put the finishing touches on Diaz, and there are some people who think that Edwards’ stock actually went down.
Gilbert Burns says Leon Edwards "wasn't hungry" enough against Nate Diaz to earn title shot
Adam D Martin - June 22, 2021
UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns says that Leon Edwards “wasn’t hungry” enough against Nate Diaz to earn a title shot at 170lbs. Edwards won a unanimous decision over Diaz at UFC 263 earlier this month, but he was rocked badly in the fifth round of the fight and was nearly finished. Still, he got the win and now Edwards is on a 10-fight unbeaten streak. With that kind of a winning streak, there’s no surprise that Edwards is out there stumping for a title shot. But UFC president Dana White has already said that Colby Covington is next in line to fight UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, who defeated Burns earlier this year at UFC 258 by knockout.
Belal Muhammad rips Leon Edwards for Nate Diaz fight: "You probably lost more fans than you gained in that one"
Adam D Martin - June 22, 2021
Belal Muhammad ripped rival Leon Edwards for the Nate Diaz fight, saying that “you probably lost more fans than you gained in that one.” Muhammad is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Demian Maia at UFC 263, and Edwards defeated Diaz via decision on the same card. However, while Edwards got his hand raised in the fight, most people remember the fifth round where Diaz rocked Edwards badly. The Brit was able to hold on and survive, but it didn’t seem like the type of elite performance that will earn him a title shot, and that’s why Muhammad wants the rematch.
Belal Muhammad puts Colby Covington on blast: 'The hatred I have for that guy is levels above Leon Edwards'
Drake Riggs - June 21, 2021
Belal Muhammad is not at all a fan of former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington. UFC President Dana White has let it be known that “Chaos” is next in line to rematch current champion, Kamaru Usman. After seeing Covington lose via fifth-round TKO in their December 2019 clash, Muhammad believes he should be next for Covington instead.
Leon Edwards says he will wait for title shot against winner of Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington: "I'm not fighting no one else"
Adam D Martin - June 18, 2021
Leon Edwards says he will wait for the title shot against the winner of Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington: “I’m not fighting no one else.” Edwards is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 263 and overall he is unbeaten over his last 10 fights, with nine wins and one No Contest during that stretch. Edwards believes that he has done enough to fight Usman for the UFC welterweight title, but UFC president Dana White has already confirmed that Covington will be getting the next crack at the belt. That means that Edwards either will have to wait for the winner of the Usman vs. Covington fight or take another fight in the meantime.
Belal Muhammad claims he “would have broke” Leon Edwards in Round 5 at UFC 263
Harry Kettle - June 16, 2021
Belal Muhammad believes he would’ve broken Leon Edwards in the fifth round if they’d have fought at UFC 263. The two men had a brief bout earlier this year that ended abruptly when an accidental eye poke from Edwards rendered Muhammad unable to continue. Ever since then, Muhammad has been protesting for another shot at Edwards who he now seems to have a legitimate beef with.
Michael Bisping stumps for Jorge Masvidal vs. Leon Edwards: "That has to be the fight"
Adam D Martin - June 15, 2021
UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping is stumping for a welterweight bout next between rivals Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal. Edwards defeated Nate Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 263, while Masvidal is coming off of back-to-back losses to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. With Colby Covington next in line to fight Usman for the belt, Edwards will likely have to fight someone else in the meantime, and UFC president Dana White suggested that it could be Masvidal. The two have beef stemming from the “three-piece and a soda” incident at UFC London.
Leon Edwards reveals the advice Nate Diaz gave him following their battle at UFC 263
Adam D Martin - June 14, 2021
UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards revealed the advice that Nate Diaz gave him following their five-round battle at UFC 263. Edwards defeated Diaz via unanimous decision in the first five-round non-title, non-main event fight in promotional history this past weekend at UFC 263. It was a fantastic performance by Edwards, who was dominating the fight up until the final minute of the bout when Diaz rocked him with a straight left and had Edwards badly wobbled. Edwards was able to hang on and survive and make it to the final bell and was rewarded the decision. Although Edwards and Diaz had some words to say in the leadup to the fight, they were extremely respectful after going to battle with each other for 25 minutes.
What's next for the stars of UFC 263?
Cole Shelton - June 14, 2021
The UFC was back in front of a full capacity crowd in Glendale, Arizona for UFC 263. The card saw two titles on the line as Israel Adesanya fought Marvin Vettori, Deiveson Figueiredo rematched Brandon Moreno and Nate Diaz returned against Leon Edwards in a five-round non-title fight. The event ended up being a good one as Adesanya dominated the Italian in their rematch winning every round to defend his belt. Moreno, meanwhile, became the new flyweight champ as he submitted Figueiredo in a great performance. Finally, it was Edwards winning a clear-cut decision over Diaz but the final minute is what most will remember.
Dana White open to booking Leon Edwards vs. Jorge Masvidal following UFC 263
Adam Martin - June 13, 2021
UFC president Dana White says he is open to booking a welterweight matchup between Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal following UFC 263. Edwards defeated Nate Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 263 to extend his unbeaten streak to 10 fights in a row (9-0, 1 NC). However, White has remained adamant that the next title shot against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will go to Colby Covington next, not Edwards. With Edwards not being next in line for a title shot, that means that Edwards could potentially take another fight instead of waiting around. And if that’s the case, then one fighter that is available for a fight could be his rival Masvidal.

Adam D Martin - June 13, 2021
Leon Edwards reacted after UFC president Dana White reaffirmed that Colby Covington is next in line for UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman. Edwards defeated Nate Diaz via unanimous decision in a five-round fight at UFC 263 on Saturday night. The win was Edwards’ ninth victory in a row, save for a No Contest with Belal Muhammad earlier this year. The Brit looks like he is ready to compete for a title and he’s hoping that he gets the opportunity to get his rematch with the champ Usman later this year. But according to White, the next title shot is still going to go to Covington.
