Tom Taylor - June 13, 2017

Having made his MMA debut all the way back in April of 2014, reigning UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has been fighting for a long time. And given that the champ is now 38 years old, it’s hard not to wonder when he might opt to hang up the gloves and call it a career. Wonder no longer.

Michael Bisping unveils desired potential retirement plan

bjpenndotcom - June 8, 2017

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has been competing in the UFC since 2006, eleven years after his first fight in the UFC, Bisping reigns as the UFC middleweight champion. Despite that, there is a bit of uncertainty regarding when Bisping’s next fight will be. While initially the champ was supposed to defend his middleweight strap against Georges St-Pierre in 2017, an eye injury is currently preventing St-Pierre from returning to the Octagon. Similarly, following his first successful title defense over Dan Henderson, Michael Bisping has been sidelined with an injury of his own.

Luke Rockhold ready to fill in for Robert Whittaker or Yoel Romero

bjpenndotcom - June 8, 2017

It has now been nearly an entire year since Luke Rockhold has been in the Octagon. After winning the UFC middleweight championship by defeating Chris Weidman at UFC 194 back in December of 2015, Rockhold was set to have a rematch with Weidman at UFC 199 in June of 2016. Unfortunately, Weidman sustained an injury during training camp and was unable to fight at UFC 199, leading the UFC to select Michael Bisping as a last minute fill-in opponent for Rockhold just two weeks before the fight. When the pair stepped into the Octagon for their highly anticipated rematch, it took just minutes for Bisping to knock Rockhold out cold and claim the UFC middleweight championship.

Michael Bisping: "I was not for one second buying Jose Aldo as the featherweight champion"

Tom Taylor - June 7, 2017

Over the weekend, in the main of UFC 212, streaking Hawaiian star Max Holloway claimed the undisputed UFC featherweight title with an exciting, third-round TKO of the once-dominant Jose Aldo. In the opinion of UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, this is the best possible thing that could have happened for the featherweight division. “I think it’s fantastic that Max Holloway won and I think he had to win to put life back into the 145 [pound] division,” Bisping said on his podcast Believe You Me. “Because honestly, Jose Aldo is a great fighter, Jose Aldo had an amazing career, Jose Aldo this, Jose Aldo that, all this f**king good stuff is so positive – I was not for one second buying Jose Aldo as the featherweight champion. I’m sorry but he got knocked the eff out in 13 seconds and then in his next fight he fights Frankie Edgar and all of the sudden he’s the champion again. So for me, I never bought into that.

bjpenndotcom - May 25, 2017

This week, following much speculation from the MMA community, it was confirmed that UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping would not be returning to the Octagon to defend his belt this summer. Jorge Masvidal blasts "Bitchbing" for picking and choosing his fights

Tom Taylor - May 24, 2017

Jorge Masvidal has been around for awhile. His first MMA bout occurred all the way back in 2003. And then there was the time he spent as a street fighter in the early years of his career. On Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour, Masvidal looked back to the halcyon days of his career, when fighters took on all comers and gave no quarter, often competing multiple times in a single night. In the modern era of money fights and champions hand-picking their opponents, Masvidal explained the he remembers those good old days very fondly.

Michael Bisping doubts GSP fight will happen, expects interim middleweight title fight to occur

Tom Taylor - May 23, 2017

The Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre saga has been one of the most confusing and controversial in recent memory. One moment, it seemed as though the fight would happen this summer. The next, it looked like a possibility for the fall. Now, with St-Pierre out till November and the UFC to keen to keep the middleweight division moving, it looks like it might not go down at all – which would of course be great news for the many top middleweight contenders who felt they were being deprived of title shots by St-Pierre’s comeback. On the latest episode of his Podcast, Believe You Me, Bisping gave yet another update on this fight. Apparently the champ now believes the UFC wants to move on from this fight. He, however, won’t be ready to fight any time soon, which has him believing the UFC will implement an interim middleweight title fight.

The ongoing saga of scheduling a Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre fight took another unexpected turn this week when middleweight champion Michael Bisping revealed that he too is unable to fight in the near future, and as a result is more than okay with waiting on Georges St-Pierre to be ready to fight later this year. After the UFC announced that Bisping and St-Pierre would be fighting later this year, they held a press conference, which both men attended. While the trash talk was quick to pick up steam, the UFC never announced an official date for the fight.

Michael Bisping appears in court over $349k contract dispute with former gym

Tom Taylor - May 15, 2017

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is currently involved in a pretty significant fight outside the confines of the UFC’s Octagon. The champ is embroiled in a lawsuit with his former gym, Wolfslair, and the gym’s head honcho, Anthony McGann. McGann also served as Bisping’s manager for many years. According to the UK’s Daily Star, this ordeal stems from a contract Bisping signed shortly before he appeared on the UFC’s long-running reality show The Ultimate Fighter back in 2005. Apparently, McGann believes Bisping still owes him $349,000 in fees stemming from this six-year contract.

The UFC middleweight contenders voices were heard as many were unhappy with the initial announcement that former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was going to challenge Michael Bisping for his middleweight title. With St-Pierre recently stating that he would not be ready to fight until after October, UFC President Dana White announced that he canceled the matchup between Bisping and St-Pierre and that #1 ranked UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero would get the opportunity to fight Bisping for the title.

Bisping vs. St-Pierre plans scrapped, Yoel Romero now gets next middleweight title shot

Tom Taylor - May 11, 2017

Several months ago, we learned that Georges St-Pierre and the UFC had squashed their differences, and that the former welterweight champion would be receive an immediate middleweight title shot against Michael Bisping upon his return. While this news was somewhat controversial, as St-Pierre’s shot deprived many of the middleweight division’s top contenders of their deserved shots, it was also met with widespread excitement. Unfortunately, the UFC could not seem to lock down a date for this Bisping vs. St-Pierre middleweight title fight. Though Bisping repeatedly said he hoped the fight would occur during International Fight Week in July, St-Pierre suggested he couldn’t fight until the fall, and ultimatately, until after October.

Georges St-Pierre hints at location of Michael Bisping fight?

bjpenndotcom - May 3, 2017

Former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre is currently gearing up for his 2017 return to the Octagon, which will see him challenge Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight title after three years away from the Octagon. While the UFC announced earlier this year that a Bisping vs. St-Pierre fight will take place at some point this year, it has not been announced when St-Pierre and Bisping will fight for the title. This of course has led to Michael Bisping stating that if St-Pierre isn’t ready to fight this summer, he will take the title shot from the former welterweight champ and give it to the middleweight #1 contender, Yoel Romero.

Jorge Masvidal bashes "faker" Michael Bisping, says nobody listens to his podcast

Tom Taylor - May 3, 2017

Since he became the UFC middleweight champion with a shocking, first-round knockout of Luke Rockhold, Michael Bisping has generated quite a bit of controversy for chasing lucrative “money fights” over fights with the middleweight division’s top contenders. His taking fights with opponents like Dan Henderson and Georges St-Pierre has generated backlash from fighters like Yoel Romero, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Tyron Woodley, and others. You can now add streaking welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal to the list of fighters who are unimpressed by Bisping’s alleged unwillingness to fight the middleweight division’s top contenders. On Tuesday night, Masvidal took to Twitter explaining that he’d received some heat from Bisping for not wanting to be on his “14 person total audience” podcast, Believe You Me. Apparently, this prompted a response from Bisping. This response drove Masvidal to call Bisping out for “avoiding everybody that’s a threat” and being the “only champ that does not fight top ten contenders.”

Michael Bisping: 'Conor McGregor is Jesus, I'm the devil'

bjpenndotcom - May 2, 2017

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has been on the receiving end of quite a bit of criticism over the course of the last six months. After Bisping won the title by knocking out Luke Rockhold in June of 2016, the newly crowned middleweight champ stepped into the Octagon to defend his middleweight title for the first time against MMA legend Dan Henderson. Bisping avenged his infamous UFC 100 knockout to Henderson by picking up a unanimous decision in England to defend his title for the first time. Following that, it was announced in early 2017 that Bisping would be returning to the Octagon later in the year to defend his middleweight title against Georges St-Pierre.

Michael Bisping weighs-in on Al Iaquinta's feud with UFC

bjpenndotcom - April 29, 2017

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has been competing in the UFC for over ten years now. During that time, Bisping climbed the UFC rankings, before ultimately winning the middleweight championship nearly a year ago. Given his familiarity with the UFC, and experience in dealing with the promotion, Bisping feels as though it isn’t wise for UFC lightweight Al Iaquinta to repeatedly put his employers on blast in the media for not giving him a post-fight bonus for his recent ‘UFC Fight Night: Nashville’ scrap.
