Honorio Banario thinks Eduard Folayang can beat Lowen Tynanes

Team Lakay’s Honorio Banario faltered in his goal to hand undefeated American Lowen Tynanes the first setback of his professional career. The two warriors met in the quarter-final round of the highly-anticipated ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix on the main card of ONE: Hero’s Ascent which took place last 25 January at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.

In a shocking turn of events, Team Lakay lost two World Titles in a span of two weeks to start 2019. However head coach Mark Sangiao believes his wards will soon become World Champions once again. Joshua Pacio in particular, the former ONE Strawweight World Champion, Sangiao believes is still improving. “It’s difficult and heartbreaking for me to see my athlete who worked really hard lose. But like what we always say, we either win or we learn,” said Sangiao.

It was not the result Team Lakay wanted to start the year on. Back-to-back losses for both Edward Kelly and now former ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua Pacio was disheartening news, given the amount of effort the team had put into preparations for months. Like always however, the team treats the losses as just another lesson they need to learn from. For Kelly, the loss to Singaporean Christian Lee will be taken to heart.

ONE Championship made some major moves in 2018 with the additions of Eddie Alvarez, Demetrious Johnson, and Sage Northcutt among others. In addition to those big names, ONE Championship also signed atomweight Bi Nguyen, a JacksonWink MMA product and a contestant on the last season of the hit reality TV series Survivor. Unfortunately for Nguyen, she suffered a knee injury which forced her to pull out of the popular TV show. Although the doctors said she could still compete, Nguyen didn’t want to risk suffering further damager to her knee.
