REPORT: Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza returns to the Octagon at UFC 208 in Brooklyn
Ronaldo Jacare Souza is apparently set to return to competition.
According to Mark La Monica of Newsday, Jacare will return to the Octagon at UFC 208 in Brooklyn to face Tim Boetsch.
Jacare was last scheduled to fight Luke Rockhold in November but their bout was canceled due to Rockhold suffering an injury. Rockhold who is ranked #2 and Souza ranked #3 on the UFC middleweight rankings first fought in Strikeforce back in 2011 where Rockhold took the middleweight championship title fight.
With being close to a shot at the middleweight title, it’s a risky match for Souza considering Boetsch is currently ranked #14 in the UFC middleweight division. A win does not do much for Jacare in terms of climbing his way up closer to a title fight and a loss will surely set him back behind the other top contenders in the division.
The UFC has yet to add the bout to the UFC 208 event page or make an official announcement.
