Sage Northcutt aims to become a three-sport titleholder in ONE Championship
Tom Taylor - December 18, 2018
Sage Northcutt has big plans for his ONE Championship career. Not only does the eight-fight UFC veteran plan on capturing a ONE Championship MMA title, but he’s also hoping to snag titles in Muay Thai and kickboxing competition as part of the ONE Super Series. “What I think is cool is, they have, not only do they have MMA, but they also have Muay Thai and they have kickboxing,” Northcutt said on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour (transcript via MMA Fighting). “So, I want to be the champion in MMA, I want to be the champion in Muay Thai and kickboxing. I want to do it all. And I think that ONE Championship is going to be really cool because I believe that I’m going to display my different skills in each of those and I believe be the champ in each of those. I think it’s the perfect league.”
Three potential opponents for Sage Northcutt's ONE Championship debut
Thomas Taylor - December 1, 2018
After weeks of speculation, it’s finally official. Eight-time UFC veteran Sage Northcutt (11-2) is the latest high-profile free agent to join the ONE Championship roster. Because ONE Championship does not allow extreme weight cutting, Sage Northcutt is almost certain to compete in the promotion’s 185-pound welterweight division, as this is the closest division to his walk-around weight. And as luck would have it, Northcutt is joining the division at a time when it has never been better.

Tom Taylor - September 14, 2018
UFC welterweight prospect Sage Northcutt is currently a free agent. While the peppy 22-year-old has said that he hopes the UFC will re-sign him, he’s also said he’d be willing to take his MMA career elsewhere for the right price. Urijah Faber, Sage Northcutt’s coach at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, California, is hoping it doesn’t come to that. He says he’s personally spoken to the UFC and encouraged them to open their check books to keep the young fighter on the payroll.
Urijah Faber praises YouTuber Logan Paul's ability, discusses possible fight with Sage Northcutt
Tom Taylor - September 12, 2018
Last month, YouTube star Logan Paul competed in a blockbuster boxing match with rival YouTuber KSI. Shortly after this bizarre spectacle, Paul implied interest in competing in MMA — perhaps even the UFC. In the opinion of retired MMA star and Team Alpha Male boss Urijah Faber, Logan Paul might actually have the goods to survive in the UFC.
Sage Northcutt and YouTuber Logan Paul trade trash talk over potential UFC fight
Tom Taylor - August 31, 2018
Earlier this month, YouTube star Logan Paul competed in a high-profile boxing match with his rival YouTuber KSI. In the wake of this massive event, there has been some buzz about Paul — the owner of a solid wrestling background — potentially competing in the UFC. “Someone in the UFC offices is watching going, ‘That Logan Paul looked pretty good. How much does he weigh?’” Brendan Schaub posited on his Below The Belt podcast. “You’re batshit crazy if you don’t think in the UFC office this morning someone went, ‘We’re just spit-balling ideas here, did anyone see the Logan Paul fight? He didn’t look terrible! What numbers did they do? Better than any card we’ve had this year. Should we sign him?’ I guarantee there’s a spark interest of signing Logan Paul to the UFC.”
Mike Perry and Sage Northcutt issue brief comments on possible fight
Tom Taylor - July 18, 2018
“Platinum” Mike Perry and “Super” Sage Northcutt are two of the most interesting characters in MMA. They’re also two of the most exciting fighters in the game. Based on those reasons alone, it’s easy to understand why people want to see them fight. The buildup to the fight would be massively entertaining, and the fight itself would probably be even better. Furthermore, the fight actually makes quite a bit of sense right now. After a few fights at lightweight, Northcutt has settled in the welterweight division — the division Perry calls home — where he recently delivered a big knockout win over Zak Ottow. Perry, meanwhile, is riding high on a bloody decision win over Paul Felder.

Under the MMA Microscope | Is the UFC hyping the wrong fighters?
Drake Riggs - May 11, 2018
In the current UFC era, it’s been made loud and clear what the new ownership’s motives are: get rich or die tryin’. Well…maybe not to that extreme of a level but 50 Cent has been getting involved with the MMA scene lately(whatever that means) so don’t tell me that that’s not a good quote choice. Everybody loves a good hype train. Especially when it is natural, warranted and deserved. What don’t people love? A forced hype train. Thus begging the question, has the UFC been putting hype behind the wrong fighters?

Hear Sage Northcutt Describe His Riveting Encounter With a Bear
Justin Golightly - March 1, 2018
The kid tested, mother approved Sage Northcutt is no stranger to doing death-defying flips inside the Octagon. We all have grown familiar with his Power Ranger post-fight celebrations and his fruit-crushing outside of the cage. Back in October of last year, he nearly gave us a heart attack hiking with Team Alpha Male, but it turns out he nearly had one himself on another day by himself when he almost reenacted the bear scene from The Revenant. “One of the first times that I was up in Sacramento, California, I was up in the mountains – and this is almost towards the Lake Tahoe area – I’m up in the mountains, I went running and climbed this waterfall by myself. I’m in the middle of nowhere, I climbed about two miles past the waterfall, and all of a sudden everything gets real quiet. Well, I didn’t know at the time, but there’s black bears up there. So I heard something grunting. All I had was a little tiny knife on me just for like protection, just because I need it, but it couldn’t do anything to a black bear, I don’t think. So, what I did was I hid behind the water that was coming out of the waterfall, and it was absolutely freezing. So, I hid for about five minutes. I didn’t move. And when I heard the grunting stop I just took off sprinting.”
Sage Northcutt gets called out by "Bonecrusher"
Tom Taylor - February 20, 2018
Though his hype has been somewhat diminished by a handful of Octagon losses, 21-year-old wunderkind Sage Northcutt is still one of the most sought after opponents in the crowded UFC lightweight division. Now riding a two-fight winning streak, he’s got an even bigger target on his back than normal. The latest fighter to call the Katy, Texas native out is British “Bonecrusher,” Marc Diakiese. Diakiese made his first callout of Northcutt with a short but sweet Tweet.
