The MMA community reacts to Sage Northcutt’s controversial win at UFC Austin!
Sage Northcutt (10-2 MMA) picked up win number ten of his mixed martial arts career by defeating Thibault Gouti at tonight’s UFC Fight Night event in Austin, Texas.
“Super Sage” and Gouti battled for the full fifteen minutes and after three rounds of closely contested action, Northcutt was awarded a unanimous decision victory from the judges in attendance.
Here is how the MMA community reacted to Sage Northcutt’s big win:
Something tells me Sage is gonna get that Hometown Cookin W here. 👀

Texas judging saves Northcutt for another day. But man, favorable matchmaking and a home cage can’t save you forever. Gotta tighten up that defense. To give your offense a better chance.

Super Sage has now moved to 12-2, but there’s still a ton of room for improvement. I’d like to see more head movement and his chin down. He allows himself to get tagged a little too much. I’d like to see better takedown defense also #UFCAustin pic.twitter.com/XMb2bAb8SK

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a robbery, and Gouti's game plan late was not good, but I had him ahead 29-28. Gave Northcutt the third.

Very surprised by that decision, but then again Texas judges gonna Texas judge.

Can you say hometown decision? That's terrible #UFCAustin

Debatable. And despite it being in Texas surprised not one judge gave it to Gouti. Gouti had his moments and will kick himself when he rewatches this fight. https://t.co/XOi7RdiG1A

Disagree with that decision….just like his "win" over Enrique Wasabi at #UFC200 but had the feeling this was about to happen #UFCAustin

That's an awful decision. I don't use the "R" word often, but that may be one… #UFCAustin

Sage Northcutt by hometown… I mean unanimous decision. #UFCAustin
