Sage Northcutt Loss |Youth has it’s advantages: No Replacement for Experience

It wasn’t the performance that the 19 year old Katy Texan expected when he stepped into the octagon last night against an eight day replacement in Bryan Barberena.

This was a fight that most thought would stay on the feet, given Barberena’s history with 8 wins via KO and only one sub via RNC before last night’s bout.

The biggest question that most fans and analysts want to know is, why the tap??? Forget about what you know about talks of hype trains, Dana’s “special” fighters who supposedly get preferential treatment etc.

Bottom line, the kid tapped out on the wrong side of the choke while Barberena could of transitioned and really put that choke to good use. Now it may be hard to believe that a talented young fighter like Northcutt would of tapped in that situation, but let’s not forget about a young Irishman who prematurely tapped and took a lot of heat for it. Things have changed for Conor McGregor since the panic stricken tap.

You never know, losses may bring out a desire that he never knew he had, it happens to the best of them. Will we see Northcutt back at LW after the defeat?
