Dana White issues hilarious response when asked about sharing a shoey with UFC 264 winner Tai Tuivasa

Adam D Martin - July 11, 2021

UFC president Dana White issued a hilarious response when he was asked about sharing a shoey with UFC 264 winner Tai Tuivasa. Tuivasa knocked out Greg Hardy in the first round of their UFC 264 heavyweight bout for his third straight win inside the Octagon. Following the fight, Tuivasa scaled up the Octagon wall and took part in a shoey celebration as he poured a full can of beer in his shoe and then drank it. Tuivasa then walked to the back and as he was going past the fans in the crowd, more of them were giving him their beer and shoes so he could continue doing shoeys. The shoey is Tuivasa’s signature move at this point of his career and is most commonly associated with him as he was the one who brought it into the mainstream.

Greg Hardy says he's fighting at UFC 264, hints at contest with Tai Tuivasa

Adam Martin - April 6, 2021

UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy says that he is preparing to fight at UFC 264 this summer, and he hinted at a matchup against Tai Tuivasa. Hardy hasn’t fought since December when he suffered a TKO loss to Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. Prior to that, Hardy had won back-to-back fights over Maurice Greene and Yorgan de Castro as he looked to close in on the UFC heavyweight division’s top-15 rankings. The loss to Tybura was a temporary setback for the former Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers defensive end, but he is planning on getting back into the Octagon in the next few months and build a new win streak after losing to Tybura.

Tai Tuivasa apologizes to Stefan Struve after kicking him in the head during post-fight celebration

Adam D Martin - October 25, 2020

UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa apologized to Stefan Struve after kicking him in the head during his post-fight celebration at UFC 254. Tuivasa, who had previously said he had been cut by the UFC in a joke, was no doubt in a must-win situation against Struve as he had lost three straight fights heading into the bout. With Struve also struggling as of late, the oddsmakers capped this fight as around a Pick ’em at the sportsbooks. But Tuivasa showed he was the better fighter as he was able to get Struve up against the fence in the clinch and then finished him with strikes.
