Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov is not off despite multiple misleading reports
Current UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson will square off with undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 223 next weekend in Brooklyn.
According to UFC President Dana White, as soon as the first strike is thrown between Tony and Khabib current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will officially be stripped of his 155-pound title.
With that said, the winner of Saturday’s highly anticipated main event fight between “The Eagle” and “El Cucuy” will be crowned the UFC’s undisputed lightweight champion of the world.
BJPENN.com first reported that news back in January.

Being that it is now April Fools Day, well maybe not quite depending on your current time zone… But regardless multiple reports have surfaced over the past hour that Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson is no longer happening at UFC 223.
UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg tweeted out the following on Twitter which sent a ton of fans into a state of shock.
I can't believe it. #UFC223 https://t.co/ut1uO1QEHV

That shock was soon replaced by rage after fight fans discovered that it was Cyborg’s idea of an April Fools Day joke.
Whether or not the joke was in good taste depends on who you ask I guess.
Thankfully BJPENN.com has confirmed that Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson are still set to throw down at UFC 223 next Saturday night in Brooklyn.
