Johnny Walker is perhaps the most compelling new contender in the UFC light heavyweight division. The Brazilian finisher has gone 3-0 since joining the UFC roster, and seems to be on a collision course with divisional champion Jon Jones.

In fact, Walker has stated that he believes he’s ready to fight the seemingly unbeatable Jon Jones right now.

Speaking to MMA Junkie recently, Johnny Walker reiterated this feeling. He says he’s been dreaming of a fight with Jon Jones for his whole career, and is hoping it happens sometimes toward the end of the year.

“A fight against Jon Jones is very important for me, because I watch his fights before I started training, before I know what I want from my life,” he said. “This is part of my history. This is like a dream for me. I want a fight against him.

“As much as I can have more experience, it’s better for me. I’m ready. Maybe top five is good. Maybe two more fights before Jones. Maybe Jones will be my Christmas gift.”

Johnny Walker has ended all three of his Octagon victories via knockout. His first casualty was the dangerous Khalil Rountree. Next up, he dispatched of former heavyweight Justin Ledet, before finally dispatching his most dangerous test to date in Misha Cirkunov. He still hasn’t amassed a single round of Octagon time.

Do you think Johnny Walker could be the man to beat Jon Jones?
