Alistair Overeem to make pro wrestling debut against Braun Strowman

Alistair Overeem will be turning to pro wrestling. Overeem, the former Strikeforce and DREAM heavyweight champion, recently signed with Glory kickboxing but will now be having a pro wrestling match. Overeem is set to headline the first Wrestling Entertainment Series (WES) event in Nottingham, England on June 4. He is set to take on former WWE star Braun Strowman, the promotion revealed on their website.

Michael Chandler believes it is likely he will face Conor McGregor next. After Chandler scored a highlight-reel KO win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 274, he called for the title fight or a bout with McGregor. After some time to think about what the UFC might do, he believes he makes the most sense for McGregor’s return as it’s a fan-friendly fight where the winner would get a title shot.

Daniel Cormier has given his thoughts on Khabib Nurmagomedov possibly coming out of retirement to fight Charles Oliveira. ‘The Eagle’ retired following his win over Justin Gaethje in October 2020. Despite his retirement, the UFC did its best to try and lure him back into fighting. However, the attempts all failed, and Nurmagomedov vacated the lightweight title in 2021.

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub isn’t happy with Cain Velasquez’s judge on his attempted murder trial. Earlier this year, Velasquez was booked on an attempted murder charge after shooting at a car in traffic. Over the following weeks, details emerged as to why the normally quiet former champion took action. Velasquez was reportedly shooting at Harry Goularte Jr., who is accused of molesting one of his family members over 100 times. Instead of hitting him, he struck the man’s stepfather.

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were booked to fight five different times and due to botched weight cuts, injuries, and a global pandemic, the bout never came to fruition. Nurmagomedov’s father had said he always thought he needed to compete against ‘El Cucuy’, so Ferguson wants it to be coaching TUF given the former lightweight champ is now retired.

Chase Hooper didn’t want to be off for nearly a year but believes in the long run it will benefit him. Hooper last fought back at UFC 263 in June of 2021, where he lost a decision to Steven Peterson to drop him to 2-2 in the UFC. After the setback, he wanted to return before the end of the year but nothing came to fruition. Now, at UFC Vegas 55 on May 21, he will return to the Octagon to take on Felipe Colares.

It was last Saturday, May 14th at UFC Vegas 54 that Ion Cutelaba (16-7 MMA) fought Ryan Spann (20-7 MMA) in the light heavyweight co-main event. Cutelaba came out swinging hard, but Spann caught him off balance and out of position, locking him in a guillotine choke in round 1 for the win.

Jan Blachowicz has confirmed he will undergo small surgery to repair damage done to his eye on Saturday night. At UFC Vegas 54, Jan Blachowicz managed to defeat Aleksandar Rakic after the Austrian star went down with a nasty knee injury in the early stages of the third round. While Rakic certainly had his moments, many believe the man behind ‘Polish Power’ performed admirably and has earned his right to receive a rematch for the UFC light heavyweight title.

The alleged shooting victim of Cain Velasquez has spoken out for the first time after the former fighter was denied bail. Back in February, 64-year-old Paul Bender was the driver of a Chevy Silverado that police say Velasquez rammed with his car and shot at during a high-speed chase. The belief is that the intended target was Harry Goularte, who has been accused of molesting Cain’s young son.

Tony Ferguson was closer to retiring than some may think. On the main card of UFC 274, Ferguson was looking to snap his three-fight losing streak when he took on Michael Chandler. ‘El Cucuy’ said he was looking to prove he is still a top contender and in order to do that, he needed to beat ‘Iron’. Unfortnately for Ferguson, the result did not go his way as he was knocked out in the second round, but in the first round, he had some success and says that is what is keeping him going.
