Colby Covington says rival Tyron Woodley will throw the Jake Paul fight, suggesting that “he’s just going to go out there and take a dive.” It was officially announced this week that Woodley and Paul will meet on August 28 in a boxing match on Showtime PPV. It’s Woodley’s first fight since he was let go by the UFC following a four-fight losing skid, while for Paul this will be his fourth professional boxing match and his first since knocking out Woodley’s friend Ben Askren in April for Triller.

The official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 28 took place on Friday in Las Vegas and all 28 of the fighters scheduled to compete have made weight. The main event of UFC Vegas 28 sees Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Augusto Sakai lock horns in a clash of top-10 ranked heavyweights. Rozenstruik is 5-2 overall in the UFC but he is coming off of a tough loss to Ciryl Gane in his last fight, while Sakai is 4-1 in the UFC and coming off of a brutal TKO defeat to Alistair Overeem. For both men to remain in title contention in a stacked division they will need to go in there and get the win here.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul absolutely trashed the UFC over its fighter pay, lashing out at UFC president Dana White in his latest rant. Paul returns to the boxing ring this summer when he takes on former UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley in a high-profile match on Showtime PPV. Ahead of the big fight, Woodley and Paul had their first staredown on Thursday night. Paul took the microphone following the faceoff and went off on an expletive-filled rant against the UFC and its fighter pay.

Kevin Lee says that a fight with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman “needs to be made eventually” now that he’s fighting at 170lbs. Lee will return to the UFC’s welterweight division in July when he takes on undefeated phenom Sean Brady at UFC 264. For Lee, he is coming back to the Octagon after a long layoff following a submission loss to Charles Oliveira in March 2020. He is also returning to the welterweight division for the first time since 2019 when he lost by submission to Rafael dos Anjos in a failed bid to make a run at 170lbs. He is hoping that, now that it’s two years later in 2021, he will now be able to make a better run up the UFC welterweight ladder.

UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre explained why it would “be a mistake” for Jon Jones to accept a heavyweight fight against Stipe Miocic. Jones has been involved in a messy public contract negotiation with the UFC for the last few months concerning a superfight against UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. The original plan was for Jones to fight Ngannou for the heavyweight belt, but when Jones asked for a number too rich for the UFC, the promotion decided to give the title shot to Derrick Lewis instead. With Jones now on the outside looking in, UFC president Dana White has suggested he fight the former champ Miocic, but Jones has said he’s not interested.

A middleweight bout between Uriah Hall and Sean Strickland moved from UFC 265 and is now set as the main event for an upcoming Fight Night. Hall vs. Strickland is a battle between two of the top-15 ranked middleweights on the UFC roster. The fight was expected to serve as one of the five main-card bouts on the UFC 265 pay-per-view card in August, but instead, the fight was taken off that card and has now been shifted up a week. Hall and Strickland will now meet for five rounds or less in the main event of the UFC Fight Night card on July 31, according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Over the course of the last few months, Usman has seen his popularity and star power go through the roof. He may have been champion for a few years already but the knockout over Jorge Masvidal really has elevated him to the next level, with many already wondering when he can enter the welterweight ‘GOAT’ conversation.

Floyd Mayweather has offered to train Tyron Woodley ahead of his pro boxing debut against Jake Paul. In the main event of an upcoming Showtime boxing pay-per-view, Woodley is set to face YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul in a highly-anticipated bout. Woodley is a former UFC champion while Paul has taken the combat sports world by storm and coming off a first-round TKO over Ben Askren.

Floyd Mayweather is open to running it back with Conor McGregor if the Irishman is up for it. In August of 2017, Mayweather and McGregor had their highly-anticipated boxing match. It took the world by storm as it was a can’t miss event and ultimately, it was Mayweather who got the 10th round TKO win. However, the early rounds were competitive as McGregor landed some shots, and according to Leonard Ellerbe the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, a rematch is possible.

Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul had their first faceoff and Woodley rapped one of his songs to the YouTube star. On August 28 in the main event of a Showtime pay-per-view card, Woodley will make his pro boxing debut against Paul, who’s 3-0 as a pro boxer. It’s a highly-anticipated bout and on Thursday in Miami, the two had their first faceoff where Woodley decided to rap his song ‘I’ll beat yo ass’ to Paul.

Welterweight fan favorite Nate Diaz shared a new poster for the upcoming UFC 263 fight against Leon Edwards, calling it “best of the best.” Diaz and Edwards throw down for five rounds or less at next weekend’s UFC 263 event, which takes place in Phoenix, Arizona. The two rivals were previously scheduled to meet last month at UFC 262, but the fight had to be postponed after Diaz suffered a minor injury during his training camp for the bout. Now that Diaz is healed up and ready to go, he will meet Edwards next Saturday night in a potential No. 1 contender’s fight at 170lbs.

Brian Maxwell never thought he would ever be boxing on a Floyd Mayweather undercard, or boxing former NFL star, Chad Johnson. On Sunday in Miami, Maxwell will have an exhibition boxing match against six-time NFL Pro Bowler in Chad Johnson aka Chad Ochocinco. The retired NFL star is now 43-years-old but has been training boxing for years and will finally take a fight and Maxwell never thought he would be his opponent.

UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington detailed why he is no longer interested in fighting his former friend and rival Jorge Masvidal. Covington and Masvidal were former teammates at American Top Team, but for the last few years, they have been bitter rivals. For whatever reason, however, the fight between these two has not been booked yet. Even though it seemed like the perfect TUF coaches’ matchup, the UFC chose to go in another direction. It seems as though not only is this fight not going to happen during the TUF format, but in general.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz promised to “show the young fighters how real men fight” against Glover Teixeira at UFC 266. The 38-year-old Blachowicz and the 41-year-old Teixeira will meet in September, with Blachowicz’s 205lbs belt on the line. Blachowicz is coming off of a big win over Israel Adesanya in his last outing that proved he’s an elite fighter in MMA, while Teixeira is still going strong even in his 40s, having won his last five fights in a row. Speaking to Submission Radio ahead of the fight, Blachowicz explained how excited he is for it.

According to MMAJunkie, the former WEC welterweight and interim UFC welterweight champion in Condit will face Max Griffin at UFC 264 in an all-action fight. UFC 264 will take place in front of a full capacity crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Beneil Dariush says Charles Oliveira owes him a UFC lightweight title fight, saying to “just own up to the person you were supposed to fight.” At UFC 262 last month in Houston, Oliveira defeated Michael Chandler in the main event of the evening to win the vacant UFC lightweight title. In the co-main event, Dariush defeated Tony Ferguson via unanimous decision in a performance that rocketed him into the top-five in the UFC lightweight division. Oliveira and Dariush are two of the best fighters in the world at 155lbs right now and it feels like they will eventually meet inside the Octagon. But if you ask Dariush, he is hoping that this fight takes place much sooner rather than later.
