At UFC 235 Tyron Woodley will defend his welterweight title. However, it will not be against Colby Covington, rather he will take on Kamaru Usman. To many, the news was surprising given Covington was the interim welterweight champion and seemed to be next in line. But, according to American Top Team owner Dan Lambert, Covington was skipped because he turned down a fight for possibly another interim title.

Late last month, UFC bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw boldly dropped down to the flyweight division to challenge local champ Henry Cejudo in a bid to become a two-division champion. Unfortunately for Dillashaw, he lost in less than a minute — though he certainly didn’t agree with the stoppage. Speaking to UFC commentator Joe Rogan on the latest edition of the Joe Rogan Experience MMA show, TJ Dillashaw explained that he’s had a very difficult time swallowing this controversial loss.

Speaking on ESPN’s Now or Never earlier this week, UFC President Dana White stated that the time for a rematch between UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier is ‘now.’ “Now,” White said bluntly of a rematch between the two arch rivals. “Yeah. I think that right now, Cormier probably has three fights left in his career, you know what I mean? And one of those guys is definitely going to be Jon Jones.”

While Jon Jones is currently booked for a UFC 235 title defense opposite the fearsome Anthony Smith, and Daniel Cormier is still unsure whether he’ll retire in March as originally planned, UFC President Dana White seems to be very interested in a rematch between the two stars — and soon.

UFC President Dana White and boxing promoter Oscar De La Hoya have had plenty to say about each other over the last few weeks. In fact, their beef recently got so heated that the retired boxer De La Hoya even challenged White to a fight on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Daniel Jacobs undercard. “Let’s get in the ring,” Oscar De La Hoya said on the Luke Thomas show. “Let’s get in the ring, three rounds. Let’s do this. Let’s do this under Canelo [Alvarez], Cinco de Mayo. I’ll even give you five months so you can get off the juice, and then we can get in great shape and then we go three rounds. Look, I’m going to give you what, a 50 pound advantage? It’s ok. I can take you on. Let’s do it.”

First, the UFC boss gave a big thumbs up to a much discussed fight between Conor McGregor and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

Brad Pickett is a mixed martial arts legend, no question about it. The 40-year-old has fought 39 times as a professional and 18 of those fights occurred under the WEC or UFC banner. Pickett announced his retirement from the sport following his loss to Marlon Vera in March 2017. Now, however, he is set to return on March 30 in London, England — but it will not be an MMA fight. Rather, Pickett will be making his bare knuckle boxing debut, and for a BKB title belt no less.

Although the card has yet to be officially announced, the main event is expected to see Canadian Elias Theodorou taking on Derek Brunson, sources close to the booking told BJPENN.com’s Cole Shelton. Smith, even asking UFC President Dana White for the opportunity to meet the broadcast personality inside the Octagon. @ufc @danawhite hey how do I challenge a couple of these clowns on tv to a fight? UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has long planned on retiring in March of 2019, when he turns 40 years old. Yet as that date rapidly approaches, there’s been question as to whether he might delay his retirement to accommodate big ticket fights with names like Jon Jones, Brock Lesnar and Stipe Miocic. That’s what UFC President Dana White is hoping, and from the sounds of it, he might just get his wish.
