A heavyweight bout between Todd Duffee and Jeff Hughes took place on the main card of tonight’s UFC Vancouver event. Todd Duffee (9-3 MMA) will return to the Octagon for the first time in over four years at tonight’s event. In his most recent effort at UFC Fight Night 71 in San Diego, Duffee suffered a first round knockout loss to former UFC heavyweight kingpin Frank Mir.

A middleweight bout between Uriah Hall and Antonio Carlos Junior took place on the main card of tonight’s UFC Vancouver event. Uriah Hall (14-9 MMA) was most recently seen in action at December’s UFC 232 event in Los Angeles, where he defeated Bevon Lewis by way of second round knockout. The former TUF standout, Hall, has gone 5-5 over his past ten Octagon appearances.

A light heavyweight bout between Misha Cirkunov and Jimmy Crute took place on the main card of tonight’s UFC Vancouver event. Misha Cirkunov (15-5 MMA) will return to the Octagon for the first time since suffering a brutal first round knockout loss to Johnny Walker this past March at UFC 235. After starting his UFC career 4-0, the Canadian has since gone just 1-3 over his past four fights.

On November 2, in the main event of UFC 244 in New York City, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will battle for the newly conceived BMF title. BMF, for those unaware, stands for “bad motherf**ker.” If that term sounds familiar, it could be because it’s been associated with lightweight action-fighter Donald Cerrone for some time. He even calls his New Mexico MMA compound the BMF Ranch. While you might expect Cerrone to be a little disgruntled about having this term commandeered, he’s actually not too bothered.

Cerrone will be looking to rebound from a recent loss to top contender Tony Ferguson, while Gaethje will be looking to make it three in a row after recent knockouts of Edson Barboza and James Vick.

Donald Cerrone believes a win over Justin Gaethje will give him a big push in the direction of a lightweight title shot. One fighter who could conceivably cut ahead of Cerrone in line, however, is Conor McGregor. Speaking at a scrum ahead of his fight with Gaethje, Cerrone was asked if he was worried about McGregor returning and jumping the contendership lineup. He responded by expressing doubt that McGregor, who he was briefly expected to fight earlier this year, will ever even fight again.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, a native of Dagestan, has become a massive star in larger Russia. So, what better way to celebrate his UFC 242 win than a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At UFC 242, “The Eagle” once again delivered a dominant performance, this time against the lightweight interim champion, Dustin Poirier. He submitted Poirier during the third round. This huge win was celebrated by Russian fans who tuned in to watch the action on Saturday night.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman was expected to make the first defense of his title against Colby Covington this November at UFC 244. Unfortunately, the negotiations for this fight hit a snag, and Usman’s fight with Covington is still unscheduled. It’s not completely clear what caused these negotiations to stall, but fans are starting to get impatient with both sides.

Jorge Masvidal has revealed the start of his beef with longtime best friend, Colby Covington. “Gamebred” says their friendship came to a halt shortly after Covington won the interim title after beating Rafael dos Anjos. Jorge Masvidal says after that UFC 225 title fight, “Chaos” never paid one of his coaches that helped prepare Covington for the fight.

Hardy’s fellow heavyweight Todd Duffee believes that’s due in large part to the favorable matchmaking he’s received from the UFC. Speaking ahead of his return to action at UFC Vancouver, Duffee shared his belief that Hardy is not only getting easy fights, but also being overpaid.

Colby Covington’s list of allies at American Top Team is getting shorter and shorter. After alienating many of the gym’s Brazilian fighters with his previous comments, he’s now at odds with two of the gym’s top fighters in Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier. Speaking on the latest episode of BJPENN.com Radio, Covington admitted that things have gotten quite tense at American Top Team, and added that the gym’s owner Dan Lambert — also his manager — has become quite exasperated with the state of things.

UFC middleweight champ Robert Whittaker is scheduled to defend his title opposite interim champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 this October. In the opinion of long-time middleweight contender Uriah Hall, however, this Whittaker-Adesanya matchup is doomed to fail. Hall believes that Whittaker will ultimately withdraw from this fight, just as he did last time he was scheduled to fight in his native Australia. In that event, Hall says he’ll happily step in on short-notice to replace Whittaker against Adesanya — a fighter he seems to respect.
