Saturday afternoon, UFC superstar Conor McGregor held a pay-per view interview with Ariel Helwani to discuss many things, the most notable of course being his potential boxing superfight with Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor stated during the course of the interview that he was putting his MMA career on hold to focus solely on undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather.

“I have my eyes on one thing. Floyd Mayweather. I’m watching the millions go up. Me and Floyd have got to get together and figure it out just like he and Manny did. Once we get a number we can agree on, then we go to the customers. The buyers. I’m going to Vegas to figure this out with the commission. That fight has been in the works for a while now. It’s the fight to make. It’s the fight the people want. It’s the fight I want. Fighting Floyd is another f***ing day for me. I believe I can make this fight without the UFC with the Ali Act. It’s smoother when we’re all involved. It’s smoother if we get everybody involved. UFC involved. Mayweather Promotions involved. And now the newly formed McGregor Promotions is involved.”

Now, Mayweather has fired back at the UFC champ, stating in a separate interview later in the day:

“I believe the fight could happen, I think McGregor is a tough competitor. He proved throughout the years in the UFC that he can fight standing up, so we’ll just have to see what the future holds. We’ll just see, we know I’m the ‘A side’, over the course it shows throughout the years, so many record breaking numbers that we have done – me and my team – so we’ll just see what the future holds, hopefully we can make the fight happen.”

When asked if he would be willing to meet McGregor in person like he did with Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather said:

“Can we make this fight happen? Absolutely. That’s what everyone wants to see, and of course Showtime is the biggest & the best in the business, so hopefully we can make it happen.”

In regards to a potential weight class, Mayweather said:

“Probably either 147, or 150.”

Mayweather ended the interview by saying: “Lets give the fans what they want to see.”
