VIDEO | Flashback to unedited sparring footage between Conor McGregor and former boxing champ
We are just one day away from being able to end the debate on who will win the money fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Tons of fans, pundits, and even some fighters are claiming who they undoubtedly feel will win the boxing match and will either look like to validate their predictions or face being called out for being wrong by the opposing side.
With the lead up to this fight, one of the biggest pieces of promotion was former boxing world champion Paulie Malignaggi’s involvement with McGregor’s camp. Malignaggi removed himself from camp after he felt “exploited” by McGregor and his team after photos and eventually a short video clip of their sparring was published on the Internet.
While Malignaggi insists that a full unedited sparring match will tell a completely different story, another former boxing champion experienced the same sort of situation. Former IBO and IBF champion Chris van Heerden was upset when edited footage made its way to the Internet where it looked as if McGregor got the best of their sparring session while training for McGregor’s rematch against Nate Diaz. However, van Heerden had some footage of his own and posted some unedited sparring footage.
Van Heerden has said he finds it disrespectful to the lifelong practitioners of boxing how McGregor claims he will simply jump from the Octagon to the boxing ring and dominate “the best pound-for-pound fighter out there.” Certainly, if any current world champion boxer were to try to do the same thing by taking on the best pound-for-pound mixed martial arts fighter in the Octagon, most MMA fans would likely laugh at the situation.
With the fight going down tomorrow between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena, are you picking a side? Or will you take Nate Diaz’s advice and do the opposite?
