VIDEO | Floyd Mayweather Sr. watches Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez highlights for the first time
The media battle between current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has been going on for some time now ever since the rumor came up about a potential fight, which Mayweather claims to have started himself.
As the trash talk goes back and forth between the two stars from the opposing sports, people can’t seem to get enough of the buzz surrounding the two famed fighters.
Interestingly, it seems Floyd Mayweather Sr. has not paid very close attention to McGregor in the Octagon as we see in this video from Fight Hub, Mayweather Sr. watches highlights from McGregor vs. Alvarez for the first time.
“I think Conor McGregor, he’s a talker not a doer,” Mayweather Sr. said prior to watching the video highlights. “I mean, whatever he did in MMA, it’s not the same thing. They not gonna let him get away with sweeping the feet, elbows, and all that. They ain’t gonna let him get away with all that stuff, man.
“I’m just telling you right now, Floyd’s would tear him up, man. Tear him up, eat him up. Even though Floyd ain’t the big ol’ big puncher, Floyd can hit him with jabs and stuff all night, man, and cut him up.”
While watching the video, Mayweather Sr. asks what weight McGregor fights at and comments on the Irishman’s striking.
“I ain’t gonna say that his fundamentals ain’t all that good,” Mayweather Sr. said of MccGegor’s boxing. “I don’t think his fundamentals are bad but I think that, you gotta understand, his fundamentals aren’t up there with the man [Mayweather Jr.] either. Like you said, we got levels.”
