Sean O’Malley’s coach Tim Welch has cleared the air on a recent social media post that was met with backlash. Welch was paying attention to the UFC 308 pay-per-view event. In particular, he was in awe of Khamzat Chimaev’s ability to force a submission on Robert Whittaker as quickly as he did. After the fight, Welch suggested that Bo Nickal might be the only fighter to give “Borz” a run for his money.

Daniel Cormier doesn’t believe he has to be chummy with Jon Jones despite their rivalry being long gone. Cormier and Jones had a nasty feud under the UFC banner. The two brawled during a UFC 178 media day sessions. Jones defeated Cormier via unanimous decision in their first meeting. Their second clash initially ended in a knockout win for Jones, but that result was changed to a No Contest due to a failed drug test on Jones’ end. “Bones” has long maintained his innocence when it comes to using banned substances.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has had high praise for Ilia Topuria as he continues his reign as the featherweight king. At this point, it’s impossible to deny that Ilia Topuria is one of the best fighters in mixed martial arts. In his last two fights alone, he’s managed to knock out Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. If that doesn’t prove what kind of fighter we’re dealing with, we’re not sure what would.

The Octagon returned to Alberta for tonight’s UFC Edmonton event, and four fighters ended up taking home performance bonuses. The fight card was headlined by a high stakes men’s flyweight bout featuring Brandon Moreno taking on Amir Albazi. The contest resulted in a dominant performance from the former flyweight kingpin Brandon Moreno. ‘The Assassin Baby’ was able to overwhelm Amir Albazi for the majority of the contest, battering ‘The Prince’ with jabs, left hooks and some well-timed kicks. By the end of round four, Albazi’s face was an absolute mess and that just continued to get worse as Moreno continued his onslaught in the fifth and final round. After twenty-five minutes of action there was no doubt that Moreno would get the nod.
