Calling “UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm” a success would be an understatement. Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm packed over fifty-thousand screaming fans into the Ethiad Stadium in Melborune, Australia for Saturday’s card and helped break a company attendance record! UFC President Dana White revealed during the post fight press conference that they will make their return to the land down under on March 20th with “UFC Fight Night 84”. The event will take place at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia.

Holly Holm flipped the world of mixed martial arts on its head when she brutally knocked out Ronda Rousey to become the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Before getting dethroned, Rousey tore through any and all competition that the UFC brass put in front of her and was undefeated with a record of 12-0. Rousey’s loss last night may have been one sided in favor of Holm, but there is no doubt in anybody’s mind that she deserves an immediate rematch. Her performance inside the octagon at “UFC 193” may not warrant one, but her previous eight championship defenses do. UFC President Dana White has this mindset and said during the post fight press conference that a rematch is likely imminent.

When UFC President Dana White announced “UFC 193” would take place in Melbourne, Australia’s Etihad Stadium it was expected the company would break their attendance record previously held by UFC 129. 55,724 screaming fans packed the Rogers Centre in 2011 to watch Georges St. Pierre handle Jake Shields at UFC 129. Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm helped break that record at “UFC 193” on Saturday evening with their intense main-event. While they didn’t exactly shatter the record, White mentioned during the post-fight press conference that they packed 56,214 fans in the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night!

The UFC 193 co-main event featured Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10-0 MMA) defending her title against Canadian standout Valerie Letourneau (8-3 MMA). Both fighters come out cautious. Letourneau catches a kick and takes Jedrzejczyk down. Joanna scrambles back to her feet. Joanna lands a big front kick to the face midway through the round. 30 seconds left and Jedrzejczyk lands another front kick to the face. Letourneau lands a head kick with 10 seconds left in the round.

The second bout of the UFC 193 main card featured a middleweight tilt between Uriah Hall (13-5 MMA) and Robert Whittaker (15-4 MMA). Whittaker came out quick in the first round, landing a clean superman punch that appeared to stun Hall. As the round went on Hall began to open up with strikes. A series of spins ending with a wheel kick that didn’t have enough room saw Hall end up on the ground in bottom position. Whittaker ended up securing Hall’s back however Uriah spun into guard and ended the round on top.

A clash of heavyweights kicked off the UFC 193 pay-per-view card in Australia, as Jared Rosholt (13-2 MMA) took on the always dangerous Stefan Struve (30-7 MMA). In the first round Struve looked to keep Rosholt at a distance, however ultimately Rosholt was able to secure a takedown and control Struve on the ground for the remainder of the round.
