WATCH! Roy Jones Jr. on Ronda Rousey: ‘Become more respectful of people and the sport’

By Russell Ess - November 25, 2015

Multiple boxing world title champion Roy Jones Jr. gave his thoughts to FightHype on Ronda Rousey’s loss against Holly Holm after UFC 193. The boxing legend talks about Rousey’s gameplan going into the fight, and how she lost respect for her competition.

Jones goes on to say that Ronda is a beast and will be back from her loss. However, the only boxer history to start a career in the junior middleweight division and go on to win a heavyweight title had some advice for Rousey.

“Become more respectful of people and the sport. When you respect other people, you respect yourself more, by showing respect,” Jones says. “So you respect people unless they disrespect you.” Jones who is obviously a big proponent of respect added, “If they don’t disrespect you, then why would you disrespect the person.”

Perhaps Jones’ advice was given to Holly Holm ahead of her fight with Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 where she shook the world with a knockout of her once thought invincible opponent. Whether or not Holm has heard Jones’ advice to Rousey, she has been using the model of respect after defending Rousey after their fight and still has nothing but good things to say about the former champion.
