In the opinion of UFC commentator Joe Rogan, the undefeated lightweight champ Nurmagomedov, who has never boxed before, would be wise to steer clear of Mayweather.

Manny Pacquiao is currently in Los Angeles to promote his January 19 showdown with Adrien Broner. One of the stops on the Filipino boxer’s trip to LA was a Clippers game, where he crossed paths with one of the chief rivals of his career, Floyd Mayweather. At the game, Pacquiao approached Mayweather for a quick handshake, though Mayweather didn’t seem all that enthused about the encounter. In fact, it seemed a little awkward.

Earlier this week, rumors began to swirl that former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor could be returning to the boxing ring for a showdown with bitter rival Paulie Malignaggi. Malignaggi was originally brought into McGregor’s camp to help the Irishman prepare for his headline-dominating 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. When the retired boxer began to feel as though he was being unfairly portrayed by the Irishman’s team, however, he made an abrupt exit. From there, the two began a longstanding and bitter war of words.

These eight fighters will be competing for a shot at the ONE Lightweight title, which will next be on the line at ONE: A New Era on March 31 in Tokyo, Japan, when the champion Eduard Folayang defends his title against Shinya Aoki.

According to a report from TMZ, boxer Adrien Broner has two court dates scheduled for Monday, January 7 — one in Atlanta, and one in Cleveland. The first court date stems from an incident in which the boxer allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in a shopping mall, groping her against her will.

Speaking on a recent episode of his Below the Belt podcast, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub shared his belief that the Floyd Mayweather vs. Tenshin Nasukawa exhibition bout that topped the RIZIN 14 card on New Years eve was fixed. “I’ve seen better acting in pornos,” Schaub said bluntly on his show (transcript via BoxingScene.com). “Floyd’s just doing his thing, he’s the aggressor, so it’s not as hard to fake it. But Tenshin needs acting skills. They should have got someone to work with him on falling down, getting hit in the face, and all that.

All the same, Nasukawa hoped to do the unthinkable and knock the Floyd Mayweather out.

Surprisingly, however, he had little to say about Mayweather’s performance. From the sounds of it, there could be another interesting crossover fight in the boxing legend’s future. Speaking to TMZ Sports, MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz claimed that Floyd Mayweather has been “begging” to fight his star client Khabib Nurmagomedov in their recent text exchanges.
