The 2021 UFC schedule kicks off beginning on Jan. 16. While many title fights have already found their spots, March looks to get not one but two. UFC Fight Island 7 starts a three-event stretch spanning across one week. Followed by UFC Fight Island 8, the first UFC pay-per-view of the year, UFC 257, will close things out.

Max Holloway is set to fight in his first non-title fight since 2016. As he anticipates the bout, he’s not too upset about the result of his last fight. UFC 251 in July 2020 acted as the first UFC event to take place on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In the co-main event of the evening, the former champ in Holloway attempted to reclaim his title against the man who dethroned him — Australia’s Alexander Volkanovski.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski admits he’s growing tired of discussing a potential trilogy fight with Max Holloway. Volkanovski is riding back-to-back decision wins over Holloway. The first, a fairly decisive unanimous decision, occured in late 2019, and earned Volkanovski the featherweight strap. The second, a split decision that occurred in July, was much more controversial, but nonetheless marked a successful title defense for the champion.

The upcoming match between UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega is being targeted for February, says Dana White. Volkanovski is coming off of a controversial split decision win over Max Holloway back at UFC 251 in July on Fight Island, which was his 19th straight win overall. The UFC thought about booking a trilogy fight with Holloway after two close decisions, but after Ortega shut out The Korean Zombie on the scorecards in October, “T-City” stole the title shot back. White previously confirmed that Ortega was the new No. 1 contender for the belt but until now we didn’t have a date for the bout. We now have a better idea of when it will happen.

Max Holloway knows he is better than Alex Volkanovski. Holloway and Volkanovski, of course, fought at UFC 245 and 251 with Volkanovski winning both by decision. However, at UFC 251, the champ edged out a split decision but many thought Holloway won.

Alex Volkanovski is interested in making a move to lightweight. Volkanovski is the current featherweight champion and coming off a split decision win over Max Holloway to defend his belt. Since then win, many had wondered what would be next for him. The champ has multiple options like Brian Ortega and the winner of Holloway vs. Calvin Kattar.

Bellator president Scott Coker says that his featherweight champion Patricio Pitbull would KO the UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski. Coker has said that he believes Pitbull is the best featherweight in MMA right now, and there’s certainly an argument to be made that he is. The Brazilian is riding a six-fight win streak that includes wins over the likes of Michael Chandler, Juan Archuleta, Daniel Weichel, and in his last fight, Pedro Carvalho. Since Pitbull is in Bellator and not in the UFC, most fans and media would likely say that Volkanovski is still the top dog at 145lbs right now. But Pitbull is absolutely right there in the conversation.

Henry Cejudo has taken a shot a UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan. Volkanovski and Yan have both trained extensively at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand in the past, and have sparred together during their time at the gym. Footage of one of their sparring sessions recently started making the rounds on social media, where it eventually caught the eye of Cejudo.

Top contender Brian Ortega dropped a potential timetable for his UFC featherweight title fight against champion Alexander Volkanovski. Ortega is coming off of a tremendous victory as he pitched a shutout and won a unanimous decision over The Korean Zombie on Fight Island earlier this month. It was Ortega’s first fight in nearly two years since a TKO loss to Max Holloway in December 2018, and after the win UFC president Dana White hinted that Ortega would be next in line for Volkanovski. The champ also seems excited about a matchup with “T-City.”

Brian Ortega has shared his initial thoughts on a potential fight with UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. Ortega made a triumphant return to the Octagon at UFC Fight Island 6 last weekend, picking up a decision win over “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung after almost two years away from the cage.

Volkanovski most recently competed at UFC 251 on Fight Island, where he won a controversial split decision over Max Holloway to keep his featherweight title. In the two months since then, Cejudo has been all over social media chirping Volkanovski and looking to fight him. The UFC has not yet booked Volkanovski for his next fight, leading to fans and media speculating that Cejudo could potentially jump the line and get it.

Alex Volkanovski shrugged off Patricio Freire’s fight challenge, leaving “Pitbull” to unload a scathing counterattack on the UFC featherweight champion. The Bellator two-division champion offered an astronomical bet to UFC president Dana White this week, that he could beat both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Alex Volkanovski.

With Zabit Magomedsharipov recently losing his fight with Yair Rodriguez, perhaps he could be next.
