Brendan Schaub explains why Brock Lesnar is a tougher test for Daniel Cormier than Derrick Lewis was

Tom Taylor - November 6, 2018

Daniel Cormier’s planned heavyweight title super fight with former UFC heavyweight champ and WWE star Brock Lesnar is unanimously expected to be a box office smash, but not everybody is expecting the fight to be competitive. Instead, it’s common opinion that Cormier, undeniably one of the best fighters ever to compete in MMA, will hand Lesnar a pretty lopsided whooping. Whether that’s accurate or not, former UFC heavyweight and current MMA analyst Brendan Schaub is confident of one thing: Brock Lesnar will be a tougher test for Daniel Cormier than his last opponent Derrick Lewis, who he submitted in the second round in the main event of UFC 230 last weekend.

Brendan Schaub on Khabib Nurmagomedov suspension: 'I'm hearing a year to 18 months'

Tom Taylor - October 12, 2018

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is in hot water. Shortly after submitting Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 last weekend, the undefeated Dagestani dynamo vaulted over the cage and attacked McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. Moments later, McGregor began exchanging punches with several of Nurmagomedov’s cohorts inside the cage. It was a truly chaotic scene.

Brendan Schaub believes the UFC is thinking about signing Logan Paul

Tom Taylor - August 28, 2018

Last weekend, YouTube stars Logan Paul and KSI stepped into the boxing ring together for an anticipated grudge match. Despite the fact that neither YouTuber has any real fighting ability, their showdown generated massive, international fanfare. While some members of the MMA community were put off by this bizarre, over-the-top spectacle, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub was pretty impressed by it. “I loved what they are doing because they are showing how easy it is to promote a fight!” Brendan Schaub said on his Below the Belt podcast (transcript via MMA Fighting). “When everyone goes, ‘Being a promoter is so difficult.’ Really? These kids have zero background! They both decided, ‘Hey, we both have a following,’ and they did it all their own. I’m sure they lined up with some help to acquire the arena and get the ticket sales and all that, but for the most part two famous guys showed you how easy it is to promote and sell a fight. It is not rocket science. No one is skilled at doing this. We give way too much respect to these promoters. They are not that skilled. It’s very obvious who should be fighting, what fight to make, how to build a fight.”

Brendan Schaub trashes the UFC for promoting Greg Hardy and not Nick Newell

Tom Taylor - August 14, 2018

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub is not impressed by the UFC’s affiliation with former NFL star Greg Hardy, who has recently been competing on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series as part of a developmental deal. In Schaub’s eyes, the efforts the UFC has put forth to promote Hardy would have been far better applied to World Series of Fighting veteran Nick Newell. “I just don’t understand. I don’t understand why he’s in that bulls**t Contender Series,” Schaub said of Hardy on his Below the Belt podcast (transcript via MMA Fighting). “They’re just doing it for views. They’re riding and dying on Greg Hardy which is hilarious. It just shows you the nature of the business and what you’re dealing with with Dana White being a promoter.

Brendan Schaub and four fighters that have beefed with Dana White

Jordy McElroy - July 18, 2018

Brendan Schaub drew a line in the sand with UFC President Dana White last Thursday in what might have been the most visceral social media clap-back of the year. A minor disagreement quickly escalated into all-out war between the UFC boss and former UFC heavyweight. It wasn’t the first time a former or current employee has raked White through the coals publically, and if history has taught us anything, it won’t be the last, either.

Tons of UFC employees reach out to me. Tons of employees from Reebok reach out to me, former fighters, media members. Why do you think that is? Cause everyone’s thinkin’ this: [Dana White] motivates by fear. That’s not a way to run a business. That’s not the way to do things, it’s 2018. You just can’t do that.

Brendan Schaub sends a final warning to his "Eskimo brother" Dana White

Thomas Taylor - July 12, 2018

Last night, UFC President Dana White and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub engaged in a very public war of words — in the comments section of an Israel Adesanya Instagram post. In this post, White warned Adesanya not to take Schaub seriously, which prompted Schaub to fire back. “Such a f—kin tool!!!!” White said of Schaub in his comment (via MMAMania). “What the f—k does this idiot know about the sport or the business??? @stylebender for u to be listening to one word from this MORON is a waste of ur time. Guy went 6-5 in the UFC!!! The only thing he could teach u is how to get KO’d. Tune idiots like this OUT.”

From what I hear, GSP doesn’t want that Nate Diaz fight. For him to make 155 [pounds], which him and Nate Diaz would fight at in Los Angeles, it’s too much of a cut.

Drake Riggs - February 7, 2018

“He’s awful. He’s terrible. This is what’s alarming, ‘I allowed Priscila [Cachoeira] to be a warrior and keep fighting’. That is not your job as a referee. We don’t need you to dictate who’s a warrior and who’s not a warrior. That is not your call. She was in serious trouble and she was so outclassed it’s not even funny. Your job is the safety. I don’t need Mario Yamasaki deciding who’s a warrior or not. Shut the f*ck up and save those fighters so they can continue their career and live to fight another day.

Brendan Schaub claims Conor McGregor is "steering the ship" in the UFC

Tom Taylor - September 4, 2017

Brendan Schaub has never been afraid to heap praise on UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor. On Saturday’s special UFC Rotterdam Fight Companion edition of The Joe Rogan experience, Schaub did just that once more, explaining the he believes McGregor will have an incredible amount of sway in future negotiations with new UFC owners WME-IMG. “Conor has changed the game for the better, especially if you’re the fighter,” Schaub told Joe Rogan (h/t MMAFighting.com). “With WME, he’s steering the ship. Think about it, he made over – the numbers have come out and they’re saying it’s gonna be the biggest pay-per-view of all time – so he made $100 million, right? So you’re telling me if you’re Conor, and you’re part of his team you’re gonna go, ‘Hey, fight Nate Diaz for $5-10 million and also, we need you to wear this Reebok and they’re gonna pay you $100,000 a year.’ You think Conor’s gonna [do that]? You’re crazy.”

Brendan Schaub Explains Why Nate Diaz Tried to Fight Him at Mayweather vs McGregor

Justin Golightly - August 29, 2017

Big fights can turn even the best of friends against each other. Conor McGregor boxing Floyd Mayweather pitted two groups of the most die hard, passionate fans clashing with polar opposite takes. Sure, it’s easy for fans to get heated in debates with each other about scoring, who did what, and the ins-and-outs of a fight we have a lot of emotional stake in, however, even the fighters in attendance and those working the event aren’t immune to these types of altercations. Video has been going around of Brendan Schaub and Nate Diaz in mid-argument over Mayweather vs McGregor, an argument that quickly almost turned into a fight. https://twitter.com/SecretMovesMMA/status/902323534365683712
