bjpenndotcom - April 1, 2017
In 2016, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar stepped into the Octagon for the first time in nearly 5 years to fight heavyweight veteran Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Lesnar’s return was one that was quickly criticized after he was given an exemption from the first three months of mandatory USADA testing prior to the fight. While USADA was quick to swoop in and begin testing the former champ at a high frequency, it wasn’t until after the fight that Lesnar was flagged for an anti-doping violation. In addition to his fight night drug test being flagged, Lesnar had a random pre-fight, out-of-competition sample flagged for banned substances as well.

Hunt first asked for half of Lesnar’s fight purse then changed his mind to demanding Lesnar’s entire fight purse that he received for his fight against Hunt at UFC 200. The UFC did not come through with Hunt’s financial demands and filed a lawsuit against the UFC, Dana White and Brock Lesnar.

Tom Taylor - February 15, 2017
Back in July of 2016, in the co-main event of the landmark UFC 200, we watched former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar step into the Octagon for the first time in some five years. His opponent in this comeback fight was missile-fisted striking specialist Mark Hunt – not an easy fight under normal circumstances, even less so coming off such a sizeable layoff. Despite his long layoff and the skill of his opponent, Lesnar was able to make a successful return, wrestling his dangerous foe to a lopsided unanimous decision win. It was an epic comeback from one of the biggest stars in MMA history.

Mark Hunt: I didn't know Brock Lesnar was using PEDs before UFC 200
bjpenndotcom - January 21, 2017
Leading up to UFC 200, where former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his highly anticipated return to the Octagon after 5 years away from the Octagon, there was quite a bit of controversy regarding Lesnar’s USADA exemption that saw him evade the first several months of random USADA drug testing leading up to the fight. Despite that, Lesnar was tested multiple times between the time it was announced that he would be fighting, and fight night. Following his win over Mark Hunt, it was revealed that Lesnar had failed a pre-fight and a fight night drug test. While he is currently serving a year-long suspension for the infraction, Mark Hunt has been very outspoken regarding the situation, even going as far as to file a civil suit against Lesnar and the UFC over the matter.
Bas Rutten's bold prediction for Brock Lesnar's MMA future
bjpenndotcom - January 13, 2017
In June of 2016, during the UFC 199 broadcast, the UFC announced that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar would be returning to the Octagon at UFC 200 in July to fight Mark Hunt, nearly 5 years after his last Octagon appearance. At the time of the announcement six months ago, no one could have guessed that the announcement of Lesnar’s return would result in a controversy that would still continue to this day. Leading up to the scrap, Lesnar was given an exemption from the first 3 months of random USADA drug testing. When USADA was able to test Lesnar, they did so numerous times in the span of just a few weeks. While there had been no reports of failed drug tests, it wasn’t until after Lesnar defeated Hunt that it was announced that Lesnar had failed a pre-fight, and fight night, drug test.

Tom Taylor - January 11, 2017
Last July, on the main card of UFC 200, Mark Hunt was given the tough job of welcoming Brock Lesnar back to the Octagon. In the end, Hunt was unable to thwart the former heavyweight champion’s long-discussed comeback plans, instead coming up short on the judges’ scorecards after being out-wrestled for three rounds. In the days following Hunt’s loss to Lesnar, news broke that Lesnar had failed a pre-fight drug test. Not long thereafter, it was revealed that Lesnar had also failed a second test taken on fight night. The hulking heavyweight tested positive for an estrogen blocker called clomiphene.

If you watched the landmark UFC 200 back in July of 2016, you may have noticed that returning former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar walked out to the Octagon in a Canadian Reebok fight kit. A quick look at the WWE star’s Wikipedia page, of course, reveals that he was born in South Dakota. He’s as American as apple pie. At least, he used to be. More recently, Lesnar and his family have relocated to a farm in the quiet Canadian prairie town of Maryfield Saskatchewan. Lesnar’s setting up shop in this tiny town – which is home to less than 500 people – is the reason for his walking out in Canadian colors at UFC 200. It’s the also the reason for his on-air appearance during a Monday night Winnipeg Jets NHL broadcast.

This led to quite a bit of controversy, which only escalated once Lesnar won the fight. To make matters even more controversial, it was then announced that Lesnar had failed not only his fight night drug test, but also his pre-fight drug test.
