UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been on an indefinite hiatus from the Octagon since her brutal 2nd round KO loss to Holly Holm at UFC 194 back in November. Since then, Rousey has been filming quite a few movies in Hollywood. On the other hand, since Rousey’s loss, Conor McGregor won the featherweight championship by knocking out Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds. Following that, McGregor was signed to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight championship, however dos Anjos broke his foot and was replaced by Nate Diaz. Diaz of course, went on to submit McGregor in the 2nd round. When a rematch was booked for UFC 200, McGregor was pulled from the bout for refusing to fulfill his media obligations.

While it was initially reported that the fight was close to being finalized, it was then revealed that the fight was entirely fictitious, and wouldn’t happen. While many thought the hype surrounding the fight was dead, Mayweather himself then said that he “absolutely” believed the fight would happen.
