With that said, there has been little trash-talking in the lead up to this weekend’s UFC London headliner between welterweight standouts Jorge Masvidal and Darren Till.

Ben Askren finally has a UFC win on his resume — unfortunately it came with a side order of controversy. The win, which occurred at UFC 235, came when he locked up a bulldog choke on Robbie Lawler. For a moment, it looked like the choke had lulled Lawler unconcious. The instant replay, however, revealed that Lawler seemed to be wide awake, and still capable of fighting. Whatever the case, Ben Askren seems to have moved on, and is now focusing on his next challenge in the UFC’s Octagon. While nothing is official just yet, it sounds like Askren’s next challenge will pit him against the winner of this weekend’s Jorge Masvidal vs. Darren Till fight.

This weekend, in the main event of the stacked UFC London card on ESPN+, Jorge Masvidal and Darren Till will collide in a crucial welterweight contender fight. It’s looking increasingly likely that the winner of this fight will then be pitted against former ONE and Bellator champ Ben Askren. Askren, no stranger to trash talk, has been laying the foundation for this potential matchup over the last few weeks. On Monday, he continued to do so, taking a shot at both Till and Masvidal in an incendiary Tweet.

The two fighters have had heated run-ins at a number of past UFC shows, and have not hesitated to swap trash talk in interviews and on social media. This weekend, Bisping and Masvidal will both be in London for the anticipated UFC London card. Bisping will be working as an analyst for the event, while Masvidal will fight Darren Till in the headlining bout.

Speaking on the latest stacked episode of BJPENN Radio, Jorge Masvidal explained how he envisions this UFC London fight with Darren Till playing out— and interestingly enough, it all ends with him slapping another UK MMA star in Michael Bisping.
