Jorge Masvidal has a message for Dana White following UFC 211 booking
Tom Taylor - March 1, 2017
When Jorge Masvidal stepped onto the canvas with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in January, he was counted out by a good portion of the fight game. Cowboy, after all, had scored violent finishes in his first four fights as a welterweight, and had a good deal of momentum on his side as a result. In the end, Masvidal would dominate this fight, nearly finishing Cowboy in the first, and putting him away for good in the second.
Demian Maia vs. Jorge Masvidal set for UFC 211
bjpenndotcom - February 28, 2017
News broke Tuesday afternoon at Jorge Masvidal vs. Demian Maia would be taking place at UFC 211 in May. The news came after a period of uncertainty following reports earlier in the week that Masvidal and Maia would be fighting in Nashville in April according to MMAJunkie. No word on whether the fight will take place on the preliminary card or pay-per view portion of the UFC 211 card, however given the magnitude of the scrap, fight fans can expect the fight to be placed on the main card.
Contrary to Maia-Masvidal reports, Cub Swanson says he's still in the UFC Nashville main event
Tom Taylor - February 28, 2017
Late last week, reports of a massive welterweight contender bout between Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal began to surface. Though this fight has not yet been announced by the UFC, these reports suggested that this fight would serve as the main event of the UFC’s April 22 trip to Nashville, Tennessee. If this was indeed the case, this would mean that Cub Swanson’s recently announced featherweight battle with Artem Lobov would not serve as the main event, as originally expected. According to Swanson himself, however, his fight with Lobov will still serve as Nashville’s main event. The featherweight star has apparently confirmed this with the UFC.

Jorge Masvidal blasts Neil Magny for avoiding fight after "talking sh*t"
Tom Taylor - February 23, 2017
Ever since his thunderous, second round knockout of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone back in January, Jorge Masvidal has had a difficult time finding a willing opponent for his next fight – and that’s not for lack of trying. Over the last few weeks, the Cuban contender has made several callouts on social media in attempt to get a fight booked. His latest callout was directed at Neil Magny. At first, Magny seemed to be down with the notion of this scrap. According to Masvidal, however, Magny refused to put pen to paper, citing an injury that will keep him on the shelf for some time.
Jorge Masvidal discusses potential fight with Nick Diaz: I’d take it in a heartbeat
Tom Taylor - February 23, 2017

He has been mentioned as a possible opponent for dangerous grappling specialist Demian Maia. He’s been discussed as an opponent for Neil Magny. Jorge Masvidal blasts entire welterweight division: your favorite fighter is probably a p*ssy!
Tom Taylor - February 23, 2017
Back in January, a largely unheralded Jorge Masvidal stepped onto the canvas with the streaking Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and delivered a blowout, knockout win. Given Cowboy’s reputation in the welterweight division, this emphatic win immediately looked like it could be a career-changer for Masvidal. Yet while it did earn him the number-five spot in the UFC welterweight rankings, it ultimately didn’t do much else for him, as he hasn’t been able to book a fight since. On Wednesday’s episode of BJ Penn Radio, Masvidal vented his frustration to host Kinch, blasting his fellow ranked welterweights for their reluctance to fight him.

Demian Maia releases lengthy statement explaining why Masvidal fight won't happen
Tom Taylor - February 3, 2017
Late last month, in the co-main event of the UFC’s latest trip to Denver, Jorge Masvidal scored one of the biggest wins of his career, ending Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone’s win-streak with a second-round knockout. With this win, the American Top Team veteran burst into the ranks of the welterweight elite, where fights with fellow top contenders await. One such contender is Demian Maia, a BJJ specialist who, were it not for Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson’s recent draw and resulting rematch, would probably be scheduled for a title shot right now. Masvidal, unsurprisingly, is very interested interested in a fight with Maia, telling BJPENN.com he’d be happy to “whoop his ass.”

Jorge Masvidal is not interested in opponents outside the welterweight top-5
Tom Taylor - February 1, 2017
Last weekend, in the co-main event of the UFC’s latest trip to Denver, Colorado, Strikeforce veteran Jorge Masvidal surprised with a crushing, second-round knockout of streaking welterweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. The win stands out as one of the biggest of his long career, if not the biggest thus far. With this career changing win in the rear-view, Masvidal now looks ahead to the kind of fight that will push him the rest of the way toward a welterweight title shot. With this in mind, the new welterweight contender has made no secret of the fact that he wants an opponent inside the division’s top-5 – perhaps streaking grappling specialist Demian Maia.

Last weekend, in the co-main event of the UFC’s latest trip to Denver, American Top Team staple Jorge Masvidal secured one of the best wins of his career by knocking out Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone – arguably twice in one fight. This massive defeat of Cowboy followed a strange, but undeniably dominant defeat of Jake Ellenberger, and an impressive victory over Ross Pearson. This trio of emphatic victories has established Masvidal as one of the hottest contenders in the welterweight division, and a fighter very much deserving of a step up in competition.

Jorge Masvidal on Cowboy win: I’ll take the double knockout
Tom Taylor - January 29, 2017
Last night, the UFC returned to Denver, Colorado with UFC on Fox 23. With eight exciting stoppages among the 12 fights on the bill, this Denver card was a downright thriller. Perhaps the most thrilling moment of the entire card, however, occurred in the co-main event, where Strikeforce veteran Jorge Masvidal delivered an upset by clubbing Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone to a second-round TKO – precisely the kind of “beat down” he predicted. While this stoppage was exciting, however, it was not without controversy, as many believe it should have ended at the end of the first round, when Masvidal punched Cowboy to the brink of consciousness right as the bell sounded.
