It’s been a wild and dramatic past couple of days for the members and former members of the world-renowned JacksonWink MMA gym. And it’s unlikely to ease up now. Earlier this week on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone went in deep on the tension that had built up between him and his longtime home base in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

On November 10, on the main card of UFC Denver, “Platinum” Mike Perry will collide with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in a welterweight matchup that has fight fans drooling. Interestingly, the pair were briefly linked to a fight back in July. At the time, Perry was booked for a UFC 226 fight with Yancy Medeiros. When Medeiros withdrew from the fight with an injury, Cowboy was briefly discussed as a replacement opponent.

On September 8, in the main event of UFC 228, UFC welterweight champion Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley will attempt to defend his title against surging British contender Darren “The Gorilla” Till. As somebody who has sparred with Darren Till, and done a bit of training with Tyron Woodley, “Platinum” Mike Perry has a particularly interesting perspective on this matchup. Mike Perry made his prediction for the UFC 228 main event on the latest episode of BJPENN.COM Radio.

For a time, it looked as though Mike Perry and Darren Till would become arch rivals in the UFC welterweight division. After their initial trash talk and callouts, however, the pair developed a mutual respect for one another. In the buildup to UFC 227 in early August, both Mike Perry and Darren Till were in Los Angeles for the UFC’s 25th Anniversary press conference. While in Los Angeles, the two welterweights were able to get some face time in. It was during this time that Perry famously asked Till to spar. Till initially agreed, thinking that Perry had invited him to the spa, but was no less on board when he realized that Perry had actually invited him to a sparring session.

For a moment in late 2017, it looked as though Darren Till and “Platinum” Mike Perry might become mortal enemies in the perilous UFC welterweight division. Since then, however, their rivalry has blossomed into a mutual respect that borders on a bromance.  Earlier this month, while visiting Los Angeles for the UFC’s 20th Anniversary Press Conference, the two welterweights got some face-time in. Apparently, they even got a bit of sparring in — that was after Darren Till realized Mike Perry hadn’t invited him to the spa.

This fight comes with an interesting storyline built in, as it was just weeks ago that Perry and Cowboy were training together at Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque. In fact, Cowboy even took Cerrone out for a bit of outdoor fun.

“Platinum” Mike Perry and “Super” Sage Northcutt are two of the most interesting characters in MMA. They’re also two of the most exciting fighters in the game. Based on those reasons alone, it’s easy to understand why people want to see them fight. The buildup to the fight would be massively entertaining, and the fight itself would probably be even better. Furthermore, the fight actually makes quite a bit of sense right now. After a few fights at lightweight, Northcutt has settled in the welterweight division — the division Perry calls home — where he recently delivered a big knockout win over Zak Ottow. Perry, meanwhile, is riding high on a bloody decision win over Paul Felder.

A welterweight scrap between Paul Felder and Mike Perry took place on tonight’s UFC 226 main card from Las Vegas. Paul Felder (15-3 MMA) enters tonight’s contest on a three-fight winnning streak, his latest being a second-round knockout victory over Charles Oliveira at UFC 218.

One of the best of the bunch came courtesy of welterweight knockout artist “Platinum” Mike Perry, and beefed-up lightweight striker Paul Felder, who replaces the injured Yancy Medeiros on short notice.

UFC welterweight standout “Platinum” Mike Perry (11-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) suffered a unanimous decision loss to Max Griffin this past February in his hometown of Orlando. The loss served as Perry’s second in a row as he had previously been defeated by Santiago Ponzinibbio via decision at UFC on FOX 26 in Winnipeg.

If things had gone according to the original plan, Mike Perry would have stepped into the cage with Yancy Medeiros at UFC 226 on July 7. Regrettably, Medeiros was sidelined with an injury just days out from the fight, which left Perry without an opponent, and the UFC with the frantic task of finding him a new dance partner.

It looks like things will end up working out for “The Irish Dragon” Paul Felder who was looking like he would be missing out on his second fight in a row. At UFC 223, Felder was planned to take on Al Iaquinta to kick off the evening’s main card. However, after UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway was pulled from the night’s main event with Khabib Nurmagomedov due to not being able to make weight, a replacement was needed.

Perry was riding high on the momentum of back-to-back knockouts of Jake Ellenberger and Alex Reyes, while Till had just authored a violent first-round knockout of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. “I’ve got my eye on Mike Perry,” Till called out moments after he clobbered Cerrone. “You and me were meant to fight!”
