VIDEO | Mike Perry to Colby Covington: "What're you scared of?"
Drake Riggs - February 27, 2018
“If he [Colby Covington] crossed it [the line] enough for the UFC to set up the fight and get me the opportunity at the #3 spot in the welterweight division, i’d take it. Give me sixty days to prepare and heal, and i’d love to fight Colby Covington. I don’t back down from anybody, I don’t care what he has to say because i’m not any of those things and the internet is showing my girl much love and telling her how beautiful she is. Not like she needed to be reminded, she already knows that.

VIDEO | Mike Perry Says He Knows Exactly What Colby Covington Would Do in a Fight
Justin Golightly - February 20, 2018
After his decision loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio, Mike Perry is on a warpath. He’s eager to get back in the Octagon and feel his fists on another head. This weekend he’ll be up against Max Griffin at UFC Florida and will look to get back in the win column to continue with his future plans. Those plans just might include top-ranked welterweight contender Colby Covington. Not only did Perry have some choice words questioning the fighting caliber of Covington, but had some X-Rated comments on the only strategy Colby would have against him in a potential fight. “Colby [Covington]’s manager is a better manager than Colby is a fighter. He got him the right fights with the right people that got him leveled up to number three in the world. But, I think that’s Colby’s story because that’s as far as he goes. He don’t go past three. [I’d] fight [Colby Covington and Demian Maia] both with my hands down, man. Catch that underhook and hit them with the other arm. They not gonna get that takedown with me, I already said. I know exactly what Colby Covington would try to do: He’d try to put his head in my lap and suck my dick for 15 minutes. That’s it. That’s what he’s gonna try to do. So, we’ll see, man. If I can get that fight, I would like that fight.”

Darren Till Explains Why He's Pulling for Mike Perry to Win at UFC Winnipeg
Justin Golightly - December 16, 2017
We’re hours away from Mike Perry’s fight with Santiago Ponzinibbio. It’s a classic fight that we’ve seen time and time again. With all of his victories being finishes, the UFC is banking on Perry to go into this fight at UFC Winnipeg and increase his star power. If he wins, not only doesn’t it increase the value of the Platinum product, but opens up more options as he breaks into the welterweight rankings. One of those being a potential showdown with another surging contender, that was hyped back in Poland: Darren Till. “As I said before, I don’t really care about rankings, and if [Mike] Perry wins — even if Santiago [Ponzinibbio] wins — I think they’re both good match-ups for me. If Perry wins, it’s a great showdown for the Liverpool event because I know he’s definitely game to come and fight me in my hometown, and I know he’s going to come in talking some sh-t and I’m going to be talking sh-t. I think it would make for an explosive buildup to a fight and I know that for a fact. It’s going to make for a good fight, so I’m pulling for Perry to win this weekend. If you asked me who’s going to win, I’d probably say Santiago is going to pull the win off, but I would like Perry to win. People might think I’ve gone past him, but I think that fight is up in the air now. I’ll take any fight.”

Despite high-profile names like Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos headlining the card, Mike Perry has enjoyed his shine in the spotlight leading up to UFC Winnipeg. He’s talked about his eye poke defense training, had a tense and strange staredown with opponent Santiago Ponzinibbio, and even belted out his own wild version of a Christmas favorite. He hasn’t stopped there. Before he steps into the Octagon on Saturday, he sat down with our own Chris Taylor for an exclusive Platinum interview. What’s his mood like ahead of his fight tomorrow:

VIDEO | Mike Perry Asked Training Partners to Try and Eyepoke Him
Drake Riggs - December 14, 2017
We’ve already learned by now that Mike Perry is a pretty unique guy… The heavy-handed Welterweight striker known as “Platinum” is set to take on his toughest opponent to date this Saturday in Santiago Ponzinibbio. But leading up to this bout, Perry did some rather interesting training preparation. Gunnar Nelson last fought Ponzinibbio and lost via first-round knockout after several claims were made of him being eye poked prior to the knockout. When asked about the pokes and training for them, Perry had this to say in his UFC on Fox 26 media day:

VIDEO | Mike Perry and Santiago Ponzinibbio Have a Tense and Strange Staredown
Justin Golightly - December 14, 2017
We all know that controversy follows the heavy-handed Mike Perry around. He’s also no stranger to creating ridiculous sound bytes that fans love to hear and us media enjoy writing about. What happened earlier today is no different. We don’t want to hype it too much, but it could be one of the all-time greatest staredowns in MMA history. What you’re about to see between Perry and Santiago Ponzinibbio is a staredown that mystifies as well as entertains. It’s an enigma wrapped around a 7-11 burrito, washed down with Mountain Dew Code Red. If none of that made sense, then you’re ready for the video. Funny he was wearing sunglasses when he’s the one who pokes people in the eyes https://t.co/ZYFdeTit4h
