Brock Lesnar sends Daniel Cormier early Christmas present ahead of UFC 200
During the UFC 199 broadcast, it was revealed that Brock Lesnar would be returning to the Octagon at UFC 200 to fight an opponent who had yet to be named. In the following days, it was revealed that Lesnar would be fighting none other than fan-favorite heavyweight Mark Hunt.
Prior to the announcement of him fighting on the card, Lesnar actually sent UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who headlines the event, an early Christmas present.
DC recalled the situation in a recent interview, which BloodyElbow transcribed:
“I started to ask everyone when I heard about it.”
Cormier then decided to text Lesnar directly:
“Hey Brock, is it Christmas time in the Cormier household? Because Brock Lesnar equals pay-per-view buys. He didn’t respond.”
“Then finally after the commercial ran (to officially announce it), I got a response from Brock that said ‘Merry Christmas, DC!'”
“I was like, ‘you have got to be kidding me!’ I had to take a moment, wept in the corner a little bit, and had to compose myself before Rockhold went out and fought.”
“It’s a big event. You have Brock Lesnar, who you can argue is the biggest star in UFC history, and I believe you have the most important fight that the UFC can put on right now.”
