Report | Brock Lesnar to be in attendance for UFC 226
The Brock Lesnar saga continues. The current WWE Universal champion is also a former UFC heavyweight champion. And it has been made clear that he would like to get back into the Octagon after his time is done inside the ring.
A Lesnar MMA return has been continually teased to us for the past so many months this year. And it’s gone as far from pictures at the UFC Performance Institute to Dana White himself stating that Lesnar will return…and potentially for a title shot.
Which leads us to the latest. It has been reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter via TheMacLife that Lesnar is expected to be attending UFC 226 next month in Las Vegas. The event will be headlined by the super fight between UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier and the defending UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic.
When White said that Lesnar will be returning, he also stated that it may indeed be possible that he could fight for the title upon his return. Which led to Cormier’s great reaction at the press conference.
Lesnar’s last fight came in July 2016 at the massive UFC 200 event where he defeated Mark Hunt by unanimous decision. Lesnar was notified shortly after that he had failed a USADA test for PEDs resulting in a one-year suspension.
It’s no secret that the WWE star is a massive draw for whichever sport he’s competing in. And because of his dare say, ‘gifted’ paths it has divided the MMA community in terms of whether or not they agree with Lesnar being allowed to return or not.
Some fighters such as Francis Ngannou have said that they would still love to fight Lesnar. Although, we all know that if he is to return it won’t be for an extended amount of time.
