USADA has already tested Brock Lesnar three times ahead of UFC return

Barring disaster, former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE star Brock Lesnar will get the next crack at UFC heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier. First, however, Lesnar will have to serve the remainder of a suspension imposed the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), and pass a battery of new drug tests to assure he is, in fact, clean.

Apparently, USADA’s work with Lesnar is off to a good start. According to the USADA website, the hulking former champ has already been tested three times since his comeback was announced (via BloodyElbow). This website was updated on August 1, so it’s even possible Lesnar has been tested again since then.

Brock Lesnar’s current suspension stems from a UFC 200 bout with Mark Hunt. Initially, this bout entered the history books as a unanimous decision win for Lesnar. Shortly thereafter, however, it was learned that Lesnar failed a drug test, and his win was ruled a no contest. He was suspended one year as a result. Half-way through this year-long sanction, Lesnar “retired” from MMA, and returned to pro wrestling, which paused his suspension.

While Daniel Cormier is very excited about the chance to fight Brock Lesnar, he’s also stated repeatedly that he expects Lesnar to fight clean.

“Brock’s gotta be clean,” Cormier said at the UFC 226 post-fight press conference. “I’m not going to fight him if he’s not clean. We’ll do USADA testing, and we’ll do other testing.”

“We’ll do testing above USADA to make sure this man’s clean,” Cormier added. “Because I’m not going to fight this man if he’s cheating. I’ve done that a number of times already.”

Do you think Brock Lesnar and Daniel Cormier will actually end up fighting?
